Re: plugged tires.. are they safe

I plug 'em all the time.. no problems at all... 160mph+ never a problem.. If possible a patch plug is your best bet but the tire needs to be off the rim

I plugged my old tire and rode the HELL outta it for a couple thousand miles and got up to 145 without a problem!
That one finally went bald, showin' threads, so poped on a used tire that I had to pull the screw out. Since it was off the rim, I went ahead and patched it...No problems so far....
RIDE THAT BEEEOOOTCH!

We save plugged tires for shows. We usually whind up burning them off anyway. I've only heard of one person having a problem with a plugged tire, but you know how that goes, there'll be 50 posts on here about NOT having problem but it's the one that had a problem............DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA
I had plug come out during a burnout, put a new one and and kept on keepin' on!! I just wouldn't go on any long trips with one in, but that's me?

Ride that $hit until you can't. I would suggest a patch plug. I got over 3000 miles off one. However, I got buddies who have got more miles with just the plug alone. The only thing is that the tire is no longer Z- rated (safe over 100 mph) after a patch has been applied.
The second year I had my bike was the worst year for plugs.
I wound up with like 6 plugs in the rear tire. I wasn't good at stunting, I was just trying power wheelies.
Now I have 2 plugs in my rear tire. They hold up as long as the hole isn't huge!
I have never plugged the front and don't know if I would ride with a plug on the front tire.
Anyone plug and still ride the front tire?!?!
Someone tried to explain about the centrifugal force being able to pull out the plug but I don't believe theres enough force to pull out the mass of the plug INSIDE the tire.
