Is his shorter? It looks like it doesn't stick out as far as the picture on the FI site.

I don't think it's an FI bar. Could be wrong though. It runs underneath the subframe not straight off it.

1000ceecee, did you shorten the FI bar for your 929? You have a 929 right? where did you shorten it up at? Only way I can see to shorten it is to wack the damn thing in half and weld it back together.

be very careful. That bar is coming out the same angle as me and my boy richies. Problem, at that angle, when you scrape it puts the most amount of leverage on the frame and subframe. Keep a close eye on the tabs coming off your frame where the top subframe bars attach. My boy rich snapped both his off. If you notice, FI bars come out then up, smoothing the angle when you scrape. Doesn't put as much stress on the frame and sub. Thats how my bar comes out, i don't like to scrape though.

Doesn't cutting that much off of the F.I. 12 bar make a difference on the angle of the skid plate? Don't you have to adjust the angle on the skid plate?

Lb3, sup pimp?

Yes, you would have to adjust the angle if you were to cut one down.... Dan and I had to do that to our bars this past weekend at Tim of FI shop.

12 Bars

Hey fellow's the answer to all your questions. darius is not running one of our bars. You may have heard some references to a pro series bar that we have but primarily this just means shorter. If you wack four inches off of the end this is the difference. As far as the geometry of the skid plate is concerned there is two ways to make it correct.. First, if you don't have friends to lift the bike up to the twelve position then take a straight edge from the ground up against the tire and finally reaching the skid plate. Insure that the top of the skid plate touches the straight edge 3/16 of an inch before the bottom, this allows for the compression of the tire combined with your weight as well as the flexing of the subframe. Thus allowing the skid plate to drag properly. (ALWAYS REMEMBER TO CROSS MEASURE FROM THE CENTER OF THE STEERING SHAFT TO EACH CORNER OF THE TWELVE BAR TO INSURE THE BIKE WILL STAND STRAIGHT UP).If your buddies are there then stand it up at twelve put a 1/16 in washer under the front of the skid plate, (again to allow for weight and flex) tach it, put it back on the ground, cross measure, and weld it.

If any of you have technical questions shoot me an email or give me a call.

You know what's funny, out of all the items we have designed and changes we've made I am more proud of the XR 50 twelve bar then anything else.

One more thing, for the skid plate we use cold drawn steel because the edges are clean and that material is true. I feel better knowing if you fall from twelve it's because you need practice and not me. lol

OH Scott, I believe it was David and Greg that modified yours and Dans bike always give the credit accordingly.

Love
