that red thing you are looking at is part of the 929 frame...my bike has that also. if you look it extends behind teh plastics, not sticking out far, just part of the frame painted or at least that's what it looks like. looks exactly like the side of my frame.

i think i see that that red thing is the slider i guess? if it is, it's not going to protect jack excetp the frame....engine case will still be destroyed along with clip ons and tank and plastics. it doesn't stick out past the plastics....so i don't see how it's "extended"

Hammer it out, fill it w/bondo or the like, sand, prime and repaint... voila`.

that plate you see is normally there. My boys 929 has that too. And his sliders are in the same place.

yea i have a 929 too. that red plate is bolted over the frame. the frame has a space where you would be able to see the motor, that red plate is covering it up. the slider is in the standard place and is gusseted to the red plate bolted over the frame.

so basically its like this. something similar to a freestyle ingenuity frame slider, with a flat plate welded to it that sits flush up against the frame (red plate). then the extended slider is gusseted to the flat plate to keep it from deflecting.
