Question crash pegs for forks?

What is everyones opinion on crash pegs on the forks to protect your front wheel? Do you think they are worth having them on, or do you think cause more trouble than they are worth?

I was wondering the same thing. I had the same pegs laid out for mine, just never put them on, because I didn't know if it might cause more problems with them on than without them. Like bending the forks.

That is what I was thinking, It might save your front wheel, but is it going to bend your forks or brake off the steering stop tab on the frame?

Lightbulb

More trouble! If you have a good enough crash you can consider your forks GONE.

I would say "a good cage will help prevent any front end damage,... depending on skill"

pegs will help out. they will hit before your front wheel does. it has saved mine for sure. i used all thread on mine, and i keep extra on hand. if it is a hard hit, the bar will bend absorbing the impact.

I am not worried about the wheel getting scuffed, I don't want to bend my wheel, cause one of the guys I ride with crashed a 12 and completely trashed his front wheel. And if that happens that is down time from riding, and I don't want that.

it got bent from hitting the ground hard, not from the side of the rim hitting the ground. you can mousetrap a 12 and not crash but smash a rim. it doesn't have to land on teh side.

if you crashed that hard with thsoe pegs....i don't see how you can't imagine the carnage...i can see it, and it's enough to cause nightmares

i used all-thread/ washers/ nuts/ and bmx pegs on mine. and yeah, i've tried the rolling burnouts, hard cause your using your left hand on the throttle, can be done. it makes 2-up stuff fun though. just dont try stoppies. there's too much weight on the front end and once the bike gets too high....well ya know

I would rather my rims get bent before my forks. You can find rims a dime a dozen
