Freestyle World Series - Open Invitation

U.S. Freestyle riders will be featured in the 1st Annual Freestyle World Series in three Australian cities!

Starting on May 1, 2004, the World Series of events will see the USA versus Australia versus Europe in an OPEN INVITATION World Series format. Select US Freestyle riders will have their expenses covered by the newly formed US Freestyle sanctioning body (former XSBA-USA staff), with over $20,000 (US) in purse money up for grabs from "Oz Freestyle". There will be 3 shows in Queensland, Sydney, and Melbourne Australia with the first event on the weekend of May 1, 2004.

The tentative list of US Freestyle riders to compete and alternates currently include: 2003 Nat'l Champ "Crazy" Dan Jackson, 2002 Nat'l Champ Matt "Thew" Blankstrom, "Hitman" Ronnie Hurst, Chauncy Vieira, Darius Khashabi, Anthony D'Orsi, Patrick Stephens, Derrick Daigle, Matt Gorka, Ronnie Giovelli, Eric Hoenshell, Kyle Woods, and Ricky Payne.

The World Series will focus on Individual Freestyle and Long Endo competitions with other featured shows to include Team Freestyle and Sickest Trick. Each rider will earn points for their respective team, and team points will be kept along with individual points to determine Champions in each category and an overall Team Champion.

If riders wish to compete in this 1st ever tour "down under", Oz Freestyle has offered to help arrange freight for their bikes from show to show within Australia, as well as assist with internal travel arrangements and accommodation bookings. (Not pay for, but help arrange at the riders expense.) Individual riders or teams are welcome to enter.

More information to come at a later date. Stay tuned to Stuntlife.com and USFreestyle.com for more details as they come available.

This is excellent. Wish i could afford to go to australia. not to see the event, but just to witness a toilet flush the opposite direction.

Yo Anthony, next time you're at the shop see if my battery is still charged. Hope so, we have a show tomorrow in Miami. I'm rustier than my front rotors. Who has REALLY stepped the game up in the last year? Not your game, but THE game. Mark MPZ comes to mind. Darius with 1300ft coasters. Look at the new guys coming up. They have so much heart and drive and are pushing themselves so hard every day, but who on this "list" is doing the same? Little taste of fame curbing the hunger? Who knows. What if someone is doing circles over the bars pointing at us, reverse wheelies or no handed coasters? We'll sit there looking dumb. Maybe a couple people here have added some feet to a stoppie or taking hands off in a circle, but in case you haven't seen the european comp vids, it's gonna take more than that because that's old news to them. Seen some of the burnouts they're doing? Nasty. Jones is going to have his mini me strapped to his back, jumping around and the crowd is going to love it. Thew will split wigs, I'm sure of that. Good thing he's on our side. Tank wheelies and ape hangers aren't going to cut it. If we do 1000ft and they do 900ft, it's not going to create a riot of any kind....IF we even have enough room for that. I'd like to see a list of all the tricks known and go down and check off everything the U.S. will be taking with them. Hope it's at least 90%. Will we be checking off from the list or adding to it? I was asked what I've done for the sport, and lately the answer is nothing. Sitting on my *** waiting for something to happen, but I'm not alone. Some may be upset their name wasn't up there but rest assured, unless we get off our asses, you'll probably see a new revised list. This is not a bash, It's just I know we're capable of so much more than we're doing. If everyone is pushing themselves as hard as they can, and It's just me being lazy.......Well, let me know how Austrailia was.

yeah I know it's just a little discouraging not seein' my name up there is all.
.....and your point is well taken about bein' ready, but how will you guys ever know if you're ready if you don't go, the only real way to know is to go and find out first hand........maybe you get your asses handed to you, maybe not.......either way it's gonna take a lot of work to get ready for the trip..............but hopefully it'll be one that opens some new doors for us all.
for what it's worth I think you guys will do well.

This is a ligitimate question. I spoke to a girl friend of mine who hasn't been to a show in about 6 months and she said "looks like nobody's doing anything new" So, sorry to offend by stating the truth. When a company does testing on a product, they usually break it so they can make it better. Here is a final thought to ponder: When you go to Australia, do you want to stand out or blend in?
To Ronnie: you're right. Until I start believing again that this sport is perfect and all positive, I'll not post again.
gorka,

dont stop posting just because you may be fed up....we have all been there at some point. i almost stopped riding completely this year myself, and just barely managed to get some time in before i had to ride anywhere.

your thoughts and comments are always welcome and they are usually right on....someone has to play devil's advocate ya know!

things that make you go hmmmm, are usually a good thing. i dont think the US riders are going over there to say hi, i think they are going over to win and make as much a statement as possible...do we all need to practice and step up the game for this? yes! just because you arent going, doesnt mean you stop trying to push the US scene farther. (that is for everyone)

whoever is going though, had better get a gameplan....

peace, love, and chain grease!
