adding teeth...

hey guys, thinking about going up 10 teeth (52 tooth rear on an 02 '750 gsxr) after xmas but i have a couple concerns i need to figure out before i do:

1. what will my top speed be and how much faster will i get it up there in case i have to outrun somebody ?

2. how many links will i need to add to my stock 525? hopefully without buying a whole new chain....

3. can i fix my speedo?

thanks in advance for the repiles!!!

Buy a new chain for +10 setup and keep your stock chain for stock or close to stock gearing thats what i did. 02 gsxr600 stock chain with stock gearing or -2 front +3 rear and then new chain with rear 66 tooth from sprocket specialsts. If your wheel is off and your changing the gears anyway it would only take another minute to swap chains if you dont mind using a master link clip. Good luck.

If its for your gsxr, +10 should put your top speed somewhere inbetween 140 and 150 MPH

Up 20 on a 1000, tops out about 130-140, speedo is WAY off, 7000rpm with traffic on the interstate, and I love it! You can get this thing called a yellow box to calibrate your speedo but I'm not sure where to find it. Might check gixxer.com.

-1 & +10 00' 750 top speed is around 120. gets loud after that. i ordered an 120 chain and cut 3 links off. and you can unplug the speedo. the tach still works, just no speed or 'milage'.

so basicly what you guys are saying is that if you got a big sprocket and you get caught doing a wheelie with it then you must pull over? man im stuck on this one, hell this may be one of the hardest choices ive ever made!!

who ever said anything about getting caught or even pulling over? be smart and it wont happen. you'll love the gearing and wont miss the top speed.

yeah oppie you are right on, i think i might be just a bit too immature to go with a big sprocket right now though. that is too much low end for me... i would be popping wheelies all across town if i had one and def land my *** in jail. im only 21 and i still think its cool to run from the cops, which sounds really stupid i admit. anybody feel me?

p.s. cops around here are everywhere and with the hooligans i hang out with running seems to be on the daily. anybody have the same problem? i hear in some parts of upstate ny you can ride all day on the highways without even passing one. i might just go down one and up two or just down 2 for now...
