frame welding

i am thinging of welding my 900rr frame before i put it back together. i bought 3/8ths alum. diamond plate for the top triangle part and 1/2 in alum. plate for the motor mounts. i have noticed that a lot of the riders who had their frames welded have non-welded frames now, is their a reason?

i'm not sure on a bike but it should be the same as a race vehicle.. you need to have flex in a chassi. if everything is welded it wouldn't let it flex much and can cause it to crack. just my .02 cents

reinforcing the weak points would be OK but welding the entire frame it would just crack from normal riding

maby at the neck and at the motor mounts

thats my 2 cents

from what I hear the neck is the biggest bitch to weld. Reinforcing is fine and I can see fixing some little cracks but to fix major **** or to redo the whole thing, I thing it would be a big pain in the ***. Just tryin to help out.
