Gsxr 750 Motor Noise

????? I did alot of first gear wheelies on sun. stand up right for on normal peg left foot on rear peg. bike was 11 o clock for probably 1/4 of a mile each wheelie. carried it from 3 grand till redline 14 grand. the bike started making a ticking noise so i stopped and on the way home bike was knocking it sounded like the crank was about to come through the case. the oil light came on so i stopped it and got it in a truck. its an 02 750 gsxr anybody know of anything to keep the bike having oil pressure in a wheelie??? like a different pick up tube or somthing ?? let me know thanks

Dude...forget about it!!!! Your bike is toast. Just send it to me. I need the plastics. Mine is getting a litttle crunchy. Just kidding. I have absolutely no earthly idea about what could be wrong. You might want to post in the how to mod forum. I still would like the plastics.

sounds like the cam chain tensioner. mine got loud quick too.

check out APE racing. they have a manual tensioner. I put it in at 9k miles and now have 14k and it's maybe time for a slight adj. and I beat this bike HARD

Mine just recently did the same thing. It is at the shop right now and once I get it out I will let you know what it was. We thought it was the Cam Chain Tensioner as well, but once it started knocking louder and siezed-up my engine we determined it wasn't. The only good thing about it is that it hadn't busted through my case yet, so the engine was still repairable. Just don't ride it anymore and take it into the shop to get looked at before it gets worse.

If the cam chain is loose can it make the bike loose power ? I just bought a used motor...it was going fine but then it started to make a rattling noise and it has alot less power . Let me know

KrazyKris: Short answer. Yes. If you are hearing a rattling/grinding noise and you can trace it to the right side of the engine, stop riding it and get an ape cct. Since it is loose, it might have jumped one tooth and it might be slightly out of time causing it it run like crap. If it jumps a couple teeth, it will wad your engine up. Get it fixed quick.

jizzy: Your engine sounds like it is wadded up. The gixxer engines hold up strong until you start holding them at or near the rev limiter for extended periods of time. I know this from experience. I am on my 4th engine. Since I put the last engine in, I dont take it over 10 grand for any reason except for the momentary rev limiter bounce when doing a burnout or somthin and it has lasted longer than any of my previous motors. Its not really an oiling issue on the gixxers unless you are 12in.

what can you do for those 12 motor issues? heard about a snorkle pick up and a splasher that goes on the clutch plates. do any of those actually help for 12'z and bar tricks?

LOL mine sounded like a diesel engine for a while...I thought the f-cker was gonna *** out on me....

I wonder what happened to yours. I've heard other things like lack of oil getting to the money parts of the motor w/ out some extra baffle device. could have been the case?

no mod needed. I just run like a quart extra oil. This has worked for my gsxr 1k engine 11.5 k miles and it still sounds pretty good.
4 motors ya you are an animal.

You should be fine. I wont do or recommend running more oil. Its bad for your rings and it robs power, plus it doesnt bring your oil level up all that much when your bike is verticle. But people will argue about this subject all day. Do what you want, I'd rather not have a bike that blows oil all into the air box every time you wheelie or a bike that smokes cause of oil blowing by the rings. I havent been able to find where to buy those baffles, that might be somthin to look into. I remember there was a guy that rode with P.O.B named phillip I think that supposedly had some extended oil pickup mod done to his g1k.. but I heard he blew two motors so who knows... Just stay away from high rpms.. Dont do much more than idle on the bar and you should be fine. If you wanna bang the rev limiter doing coasties or burnies on the bar, you are just gonna blow your **** up.. its gonna happen sooner or later.

Damn.. thats alot of extra oil. Thats cool you havent had any problems. And used engines are always a gamble. It seems like everytime I come across a used engine for sale it only has 1300 miles on it... lol. I put one in and blew it 2 days later once. It ran ok for two days until it blew but it sounded like crap the whole time. It was cheap. I just kept blowing 2nd gear in my first engine so I didnt actually blow it up I just figured it was easier at the time to swap the engine instead of replacing 2nd gear again.
