How slow on 929

I'm +5 rear, stock front on my 929. The slowest I can get my wheelies is around 15mph or so. I have them nice and smooth and no wobble. The problem I'm having is that the motor just wants to quit if I try to go slower than 15mph. It's got that flat bottom end that I've heard other people complain about. Are people going slower than 15mph on 929s with similar gearing to mine? Sorry If this is a stupid question but I'm on my own with the slow **** here in Poughkeepsie.
The other question I have is what bikes, if any, can go like 3-5mph in a slow wheelie with stock or moderate gearing?

i could get down to around 8-10 mph (looking at the speedo as it's comming down) on my f4i -1 front. and i'm sure people are rockin slower than me.

I wouldn't know how to go slower on a 929, but i have one and i don't know if you know, but Honda messed up mapping the FI/ingnition on the low rpms like before 3000. Thats maybe why your bike wants to quit on you. Its often referred to as a hiccup.

I hated my 929 when I got it 2 weeks ago for the same reason (had a 98 RR..for sale..hehe). It has low end but you have to be really easy on the brake. It hiccups around 2700 when the valve flips over. Just have to get used to it..and u will learn to compensate when u know it is coming. Try keeping it a little taller when riding em slower.

Thanks JackassRR. I'm pretty sure I have it up high enough. I'm able to slow down from like 20 to 15 mph without using much brake. It's just that when it gets to 2700rpms like you said the power falls off in a big way. I've been trying to give it more throttle at that point but I'm not having any luck. When you say learn to compensate do you mean give more throttle, less brake, something else? Maybe I should be anticipating it and giving more throttle before it starts to die? I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with this sh*t. There just aren't any pro stunnas in my area to learn from.

Should I be using the clutch to keep the RPMs above the dead spot or is it possible to go slower without using the clutch.

I can kinda feel when its gettin round 2700..I think i leave off the brake more to let the front come up a tad..once the valve completes the flip (the stumble) you should be ok. I just hold the throttle at a constant.

woops. ideally you should be able to ride on one wheel as slow as you can on two wheels-using the idle.

again, less gas and less brake.

Thanks TEACH. That puts this into better perspective. My bike can start moving just by letting out the clutch in first gear with both wheels on the ground. It should be able to roll in a wheelie just as well, as long as there is not a significant load on the motor. I think what I'm doing is, as I slow down I get nervous and I let the front wheel drop lower, because it's harder to balance at lower speed, which puts more resistance on the motor. I just need more practice. I've been practicing so far without raising my idle or letting any air out of my back tire, just for the challenge I guess. I should probably try at least lowering my air pressure to make it a little easier. Thanks to everyone.

Thumbs up

Turn up the idle but not too much and you should be set. The more you turn up the idle the less you use the gas and more you use the brake.

another thing to do would be to re-map (Powercommander). That would smooth out the low rpms and let you roll slower with no hiccups...

I am Up 2 on the rear sprocket and Idle the bike up to 4000rpms. Just you have to kind of slip the clutch a little as you are slowing down. It took me a long time to get it down to where I was stalling all the time at about 4 to 5 mph to where I can come to a complete stop and take off again.
