Power Wheelies Suck????
I JUST READ FROM SOMEONE HATING ON PAUL THAT POWER WHEELIES SUCK,
THAT'S NOT EVEN RIGHT DUDE!!!
HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY SAY THAT!!!, A POWER WHEELIE IS THE BEGINNING OF EVERY OTHER WHEELIE STUNT THERE IS, OR ARE YOU GUYS GONNA TELL ME THAT YOU STARTED DOING 5MPH WHEELIES RIGHT AFTER YOU BOUGHT YOUR FIRST BIKE?
IS LIKE SAYING THAT EGGS SUCK WHEN YOU LOVE OMELETTES
LET ME KNOW WHAT YA'LL THINK.
PEACE

Personally, I love da clutch... No more sore back from tryin to pull them power wheelies up... Plus, clutched wheelies look so much more controlled than powered ones... I used to power em up all the time when I was just learning, now that I'm getting alot bettah, I clutch em all the time, so much easier. Just my two pesos...
power wheelies sucks because its like painting yourself into a corner . doing power wheelies only reinforce bad habits, when you finally exhaust all your power wheelie potential and want to learn other more advanced tricks all the time you spent power wheeling could of been used learning how to clutch and I have yet to find an advanced stunter that would say power wheelies are better then clutch wheelies. once you learn how to clutch wheelie you will probably stick with it.
Its all about the clutch. You have more feel. You know pretty much where the bike is gonna go. Power wheelies are un predictable. I have never ever liked or even done power wheelies. Just my opinion though
Once I started to balance my wheelies I didn't want to do power wheelies anymore. If I start to pick up speed I just set it down. Going faster than 60 mph in a wheelie doesn't feel safe to me anymore.
I used to powerwheelie 1st gear standups, and they scared me. The front wheel would come up slowly at first, but then it would jump up fast when it got close to the balence point. Also, the engine would be almost redlining by the time it got up all the way. Now i clutch slow first gear wheelies, and will never power up another wheelie.

I'm pretty sure we have two conflicting definitions of a power wheelie here. I was always under the impression that the distinction was between "powering it up" and "clutching it up". It has nothing to do with not being at the balance point, or using the bike's power to keep it up.
I think it's general consensus (if not fact) that clutching it up is "better". Even if you can't really hold balance point, and you're still gonna ride to redline, it's better to clutch because it comes up faster and cleaner. Powering it up eats up too many RPMs, and you'll find yourself at redline sooner than if you clutch. But, yeah, it's stupid to hate on powering it up. It's where we all learned. It's like hating on not using the brake. Nobody learned brake control at the same time they learned to get it up. There are always gonna be people just starting out, and it's not fair to say basic **** sucks. Remember your first shitty *** 1/2 second wheelie? Coolest **** ever, huh? Remember when you made a distinction between an endo and a rolling endo? I see people do stoppies now without rolling em, and it scares the **** out of me every time. Quick note on that: DONT DO THAT! Endos were meant to be rolled. Just get the ***** and do it. You have no control if you just grab the brake at 6 mph and hope you don't flip. It's seriously not safe.
Anyway, point is, there will always be noobs, but you gotta give em props.

damn, ive been hearing a lot of talk on this lately and it pisses me off.....the distinction really isnt between "powering wheelies up" vs. "clutching them" but people are saying fast wheelies suck in general and slow controlled wheelies are the shiznit.
i understand the point to this....less damage in a crash to you and your bike, takes more control and time to perfect, really looks pimp in variations, can practice and perform in small areas etc.
im not hating on people who slow wheelie at all, i think its fantastic, however, the guys who can are continually looking down on those who cant and making assanine comments/assumptions.......you guys need to realize that YOU TOO were once a "power squid" and it probably took a lot of powering up/clutching up and chasing the bike to redline/etc to figure out how to slow everything down in the end and have that kind of control that you do now. those of us who havent reached that level of control (i include myself in that) will have to practice fast wheelies, and learn just how high that balance point is, and have fun riding them out for miles on end before we feel comfortable 12ving or pulling no handers or any of that more technical stuff ive seen you guys doing at the warehouse sets.
bottom line is, we all have to start somewhere...dont hate on people for practicing and belittle them because you'll only end up discouraging them
oh and another thing......highway wheelies are pimp!

I just want to make clear that I don't hate on clutch wheelies but's let's be realistic most people start off with power wheelies, I do want to learn how to clutch it eventually but as of right now I'm having too much fun on the E-way, slow wheelies rock! no lie in that but c'mon you're not gonna do a slow wheelie out on the E-way.
Again this is my opinion and I'm entitled to it Damn it!!!

I use to love doing power wheelies until I finally reached the balance point and beyond. The first time I pasted the balance point doing a power wheelie at 70mph I **** my pants because the bike was out of F***'n control and I was lucky enough to bring the bastard back down without a scratch. Ever since that happened I have been working on my clutch'd wheelies.
Highway wheelies are

- clutch is to the left - ppl power up cuz its e-z at first. then you go for a loop.
