So what kind to buy for a '99 Cbr900RR? Daytona? L.P.? Toby? Rotary style or rod style? If rotary, is it really worth the extra money? I am a poor, but I don't want to make my self even poorer by wrecking due to a nasy tank slapper.

 

I got the scott's rotary. It's the best out there. It doesn't get f'ed up if you wreck, you can still stunt on the tank, it's super smooth. Ohlins makes one exactly the same from the same factory but it cost more ...go figure. You can get one for $350-$400 online. It does cost a little more but it's the best. My brother has a Sprint fork mount rod style. It's much more difficult to adjust while riding and could get damaged easier in a wreck. If you want to save money go with a rod style for $150-$200. They work fine and are just a little more inconvenient to use. If you want the best for racing and stunting.... go with the Scott's. Also with the Scotts, you can remove it in less than a minute. If you have multiple bikes you can use it on all of them. You only have to buy the mounting bracket for each bike, the damper just slides on and off in a matter of minutes. With a rod, you can't move it to any other bike and you've got to take the front apart to do it. Scott's mounts out of the box in about 15 minutes if you've never done it before.

 

get an ohlins rod damper. that **** is the best. thats whats on every ama superbike & gp bikes. really easy to adjust and wont get in the way for stuntin. get one on ebay & then buy the mounting brackets seperately

 

Ohlins and Hyperpro are the most popular in here. They do cost lost of tho

In my opinion, the shock style is best for track use, and rotary is best for stunting...especially one like the Scotts.

Scott's dampners have more adjustment possibilities than you will want to maess with and are great for quick, jerky situations, such as coming down from a whellie and keeping tank slappers away and keeping you from losing it in a endo.
