I just bought a setup f4i from a friend but it's havin some trouble and I was looking for some help from people on here. It's idle is jumping and when I pull te throttle there is no response until suddenly it gets the rpm up real high and if I keep them up it's ok until it goes to idle and starts o bog again. If I get a response with people who want to help I will take a video so you can hear it. Let me k ow what you guys think. Thanks

 

Is the f1 light on at all? If so, you can get the code from that and start there. Have you checked the spark plugs/coils?

 

Well I have no gauges or anything so I don't have that light but I tested the plugs and when I started to give it throttle the spark flickered but it didn't cut out all the way. Maybe I should just replace the plugs?? It sounds almost like it can't get enough fuel but maybe it's the spark I'm really not sure

 

Can you borrow a set from someone? That's honestly your best bet. But if that's not the issue. Changing the spark plugs wouldn't hurt. Every time I buy a new bike I change the oil, coolant, plugs, air filter and sometimes brake fluid. But other than plugs I don't see that making much of a difference. Is the fuel pump priming (buzzing sound)when you turn the key on, before you start the engine?

Remember in order for a motor to run it needs 5 things
Fuel
Fuel pressure
Spark
Compression
And power(battery or alternator)

I know, it's alot easier said than done.

That sounds like alot more than just new plugs. Unless you have the worst plugs ever. Possibly your TPS (throttle position sensor) or something with your fuel pump.

 

yeah man .... plugs is what everone said about mine ... but mine turned out to be a kink in the fuel line...

 

Yeah I'm thinking something with the fuel I guess but I don't want to start replacing ****. anyone have an idea how to test the pump/lines?

 

Is this your first bike? Is the fuel pump priming? (buzzing before you start the motor). If not, you can also test the fuel pump by hooking it up to the battery and if it buzzes then it's good. For the fuel lines it's pretty much just a visual inspection. No kinks, weird bends etc.

 

i would try putting in some seafoam put like half the bottle wait about 10 min after poring it see if it cleans out ur injectors worked on mine just a thought...

 

Yeah it's my first bike and the pump is working when I turn the bike on I'm going to try the seafoam first then try to adjust the throttle sensor?

Do you have a service manual? If not buy one. I've had one for every bike I've ever had. Best investment money can buy for your bike. You can get them on eBay for under 30 bucks. Defenetly worth every penny!

 

dude i know how you feel man i cant stand going without mine... its rainning all week and it blowwws

 

umm maybe the butterflys are stuck for there not to be any response on the throttle.
