good for street riding
Re: good for street riding
Im 1 down and 55 in the rear and i avoid the highway. Its allready screamin around the streets.
Re: good for street riding
so you suggest stay with stock gearing in front? Cuz it's my second bike, but i never changed a chain and right now it's a time for it,so sprockets would go with I'll keep the 57 in th back like it is right now just change it to 530 chain, but what to put in the front? Bike has title so can be registered, but i don't ride it on the street cuz got pulled over couple of times and one of them was expensive, lot is safer in any matter ( cops and crashing too) you're going slower.
Re: good for street riding
Going down 1 tooth in front is equivalent to 2 1/2 - 3 teeth added to the back. So if you have stock front now w/ a 57t back, and you want to go to -2 front w/ 53t back. It would be the same thing as having a stock front w/ a 58-59t back sprocket. You would actually be "adding" teeth when you are taking away.
Minus 1 up front is like +3 in back (give or take)
Plus 3 in back is like minus one up front. (give or take)
Stock_57=57
-1_57=60
-1_53=56
-2_53=59
Don't go down more than 1 in front. (puts stress on crank internals and sprocket)
The lower your total number the better for street. The higher your total number the better for lot/stunt.
Hope it's not too confusing

Re: good for street riding
I dont know wat the gsxr comes with as far as sprockets. But if u already have a 57, wats the problem? All i know is my f4i came 16/46, now its 15/55. Its a huge difference.
And yes going down in the front does the same thing, i just think it gets a little weird running such a small front sprocket, and not many people do it (maybe a reason?)
How many teeth are stock on ur bike f and r?

Re: good for street riding
dont go -2 in the front
as was stated puts un needed stress on the sprockets and crank
i personally run stock front sprockets because they last way longer are easy to come by
just a personal preference
