chain and sprocket problem

ok guys im pretty much new to the stunting life and i have a dilemma i have a 01 f4i with a sunstar 48t sprocket in the rear and a 17t sprocket up front with a 520 chain, i purchased the bike like this, now where my problem came in is when the teeth of my sprocket shredded now i need a new one now here are my questions

do i have to buy a new chain as well if im purchasing the same size rear sprocket back

and if the stock front sprocket is 16 teeth my bike has +1 up in the front making it 17t what differences does going up or down make in the front

what is the difference of the 520,525,530 chains

what do i have to do to go up to a 50 or a 52 rear sprocket how do i know how many more links to add

im grateful for all the help and thanks for taking time out to reply

Re: chain and sprocket problem

I have an o3 f4i and am running 16/51 with a 120 link chain and my wheel is all the way back after i removed 9 links so i would get 110 link chain an 520/525/530 are the thickness of the chains urs being the smallest u shouldnt have a problem 17 in the front was a waste of money for the guy who put that on there he was just trying to change the gearing and be cheap front sprockets r cheaper if i were u i would run sum were between 15/51-55 and u will be good try pmp they custom make sprockets tthere in tx and have diffrent colors any size ect.... i run them

Re: chain and sprocket problem

Im on a 04 f4i running 15/51. Its a good setup for me, but also consider that u will lose top speed when getting a bigger sprocket. You can keep the 17 just go up slightly more in the rear. It all depends what you are looking to do. If you want a lot bike, i would go with a 55, but thats me.

Re: chain and sprocket problem

I recommend for street nothing bigger than a 54 cuz my 62 tooth is ridiculous riding around on the streets

Re: chain and sprocket problem

im looking for a street/ stunt bike i still like to hang with my boys going on ride and all so i do want to at least get up to 130-140. i get up to that now with my sprocket but i know once i go bigger that wont be able to happen. i want enough power to do a dead stop wheelie with out reving the **** out of my bike to get it up its to much force coming back and to hard to catch with the brake with it coming back so hard so im thinking of going with a 15/52 setup

Re: chain and sprocket problem
