gsxr speedometer adjusment

went up 10 teeth in the back and it fudged up my speedometer. it runs about 12-23 mph over what im actually going. how would i go about adjusting it to bring it to the actual speed im going? if i get one more speeding ticket before i turn 18 ill lose my license for 3 months and this makes it a little sketchy so any advice would be koool

Re: gsxr speedometer adjusment

dunno why he is telling you to get a speedohealer. if you are going to get anything, support the stunt community and get the speedoDRD from 12oclock labs. and either way, you are still going to have to figure out the % error, and then program it, and then it will be right.

now the simple solution without spending 70+ bucks is to just slow down. put a gps in your pocket, reset the max speed that it has shown. go to an empty area with a long stretch of track or tarmac or anything like that. go from 0 to 100 miles per hour. hold it at exactly 100 for about 10 seconds. then come to a stop. now take out your gps and look at the top speed. it will probably be like 80ish. take the 100 from the speedometer, subtract the 80 from the gps. that gives you 20...thats your % error. now you can either use that with a speedohealer, or you can do the math in your head while you ride. if yours is off by 20%, a simple way to get your speed is look at your speed on the speedometer. lets say it shows 85. now take the first digit(the 8) and double it(16). now subtract that from the speedo speed(85-16= ~69 miles per hour)

Re: gsxr speedometer adjusment

alright thanks bro. thats how i figured out how much i am over, by using a gps. it gets worst as i go faster. like 57 is 45 and 100 is a 77. how do i figure my percent error when it gets worst as i go faster?
