why does the wheel just spin?!
why does the wheel just spin?!
i will try and try to wheelie my k7 750 with stock gearing on it and all it will do is spin the tire. i will ride for a about an hour and the burn the tire for a minute to make shore it is warmed up but every single time i try to clutch it up the back wheel just spins. i have a tire on the back with probably a little over 200 miles on it so i would assume its good and broke in. the front wheel wont come up for nothing no matter what gear. can any one offer some advice? i just bought a new rear sprocket +10 in the back but havent put it on yet. if i put that on would it help at all or will i still have the same problem. any advice would be awesome.
Re: why does the wheel just spin?!
one thing that might help you get that wheelie up is maybe give it a blip of the trottle before you clutch it up to get the rpms up just a little faster... the reason your tire is spinning is because your not letting the rpms get high enough before you let out the clutch so try holding the trottle just a little longer at the rpm you want then dump that clutch... you are probably just cracking the trottle then dumping clutch before the rpms are high enough to bring your wheel up so give that a try... your tire is good, and you can wheelie with a stock sprocket. so give it a shot
Re: why does the wheel just spin?!
its not the bike man
there are plenty of guys who stunt the 06/07s
i used to rock fat wheelies on my 06 600
dont put the sprocket it on yet it will just make ur mistake more apparent
check your tire pressure i run 28psi in the rear
get your weight back and remember to SLIP your clutch
and practice practice practice
good luck man

Re: why does the wheel just spin?!
well when i rev it up that high it just spins and doesnt come up. i went up 10 in the rear last friday and that helps get it up just by turning the throttle. i dont know if its just the bike or whether i just have terrible clutch control.
Re: why does the wheel just spin?!
when your idle is turned up, you should be goin pretty slow around 20 km/h (im from canada) so it will pretty much be just pulling you so you arnt using any throttle till you pull in clutch then crack it then slip clutch... done
Re: why does the wheel just spin?!
the idle wont improve your wheelies
how fast are you trying to start them at
step one practice
step 2 practice
step 3 practice
i wouldnt have gone to a +10 so soon its just gonna make second feel like first gear now
first day i wheelied i spent like 5 hours doing clutch ups and by the end of the day they still sucked
in short you are 17 you probably have a few months of riding under your belt so its short enough to say you need practice
dont take it as a diss its just helpful criticism
you need work on your clutch control and your throttle control

Re: why does the wheel just spin?!
I had a problem like this and I took care of it by proper technique I scooted way back to my back seat and made sure I absolutely did not shift my weight forward because if I started forward my tire spun and if I shifted forward it topped the forks out then the back wheel just spun.
