Stunt handle bars for 929?

I recently went down on my 929 RR. Most of the fairings are toast, but the bike is still mechanically excellent so I am considering buying it back from the insurance company for cheap with a salvage title and turning it into my around town bike. If I do this, I would like to strip all the fairings off and street fighter it and I want to put higher and wider handlebars on it, basically the actual handle bar style like a dirt or touring bike - basically what you stunters put on a bike to have more control. This way I can be more upright for just ripping around the city streets.

So, I'm trying to figure out how much $$ it would take to do this so I can decide if it's worth it to me to buy the bike back from insurance. This is where I need your guys' help! Do I have to buy a special triple tree that has handlebar clamps on it? How much are the handlebars and where can I get them? Can I get the handlebars in the same diameter as my stock clipons so that all my stock stuff can mount right onto them - the throttle tube, clutch and brake, grips, etc.?

Please educate me as to what goes into this sort of conversion!
Thanks in advance!

to set up a full stunt bike it will cost around 1500 or more to do it right. as for the bars all you need are some vortex clipons off ebay flip them up side down and put them on top of the tripple and turn them str8 and whalllllaaa you have stunt handle bars

Is there a picture somewhere of what you're talking about with the clipons and what you mean by flipping them upside down and turning them straight? I'm looking at a picture of the clip ons and I don't get what you mean.

they have an angle to the bars, so basically you are puttin them on upside down instead of the right way.... and your old handle bars went underneath the tripple clamp, put the new clip-ons on top instead

Re: Stunt handle bars for 929?

So you've gotta lower the front of the bike a bit so that the forks stick out of hte top of the tripple enough to fit the clamps on there?

If I wanted to avoid lowering the front, would one of these work:

What I don't understand about these is how they mount to the triple - do you have to drill into the triple to bolt them to it??

I belive he ask how to put DB bars on his bike for the street fighter look not to make it a stunt bike!

you can buy a set of these :
http://www.btosports.com/p/PT024899
and drill 2 holes in your top tripple and mount them!
then buy what ever set of 1 1/8" fat bars you like the most!
I run these:
http://www.btosports.com/p/PT024899
and yes all your stock controls will mount to the bars. Only problem I had was my clutch cable was too short so i just bought a Moose Racing easy pull system:
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...ch-System.aspx
wich gave the extra couple inches I needed, and made the clutch a little easyier!

That's exactly the type of information I was looking for! Thanks!
And you're right, I'm not making the bike a stunt bike, just stripping the fairings off and want to add gold (cuz that's what's cool ) dirt bike bars to get more comfortable and upright on the bike...

Ok, I get the mounts now, I am wondering since the 929 triple has a slope to part of it if the mount you linked to will work or if I have to get the ingenuity ones...

As far as bar choice goes, I think I should probably go with one that has the least amount of rise possible right? I mean, I don't want to turn this bike into a harley and be sitting straight up and down haha, and going with any dirt bike bar at all coming up off the triple is already a couple inches higher than the clip ons right? So a fairly stright, slight rise bar would be best I'm thinking, what do you think?
P.S. I think you linked twice to the mount and not to the bars you mentioned.

Thanks!
