Can't get my F4i to start!!! WTF
Bike is an '01 with a motor from an '03 with only 4K miles on it.
Just did the motor swap. All wires and everything looked sound and everything is plugged in and mounted. Battery is fully charged. Terminals are hooked up properly from the relay to the battery. Power is there to the headlights and horn and signals. But when I hit the start button all I get is a buzzing sound from the battery area as if it has a weak battery. But I know the battery is good and charger cuz it new and recently charge. Any ideas??

is the batt connected properly? sometimes the wires on the batt are not tight enough and they're not gettin enough power goin throught them, happened to my boy he had a loose batt wire and everything worked but the bike wouldnt turn on ... but its prob something else ...good luck

Dont think the wires loose cuz the last motor i had in started up first try.. AND. Now the terminal/wire connected to the relay is getting hot to the touch when the key is turned on. - hot enough where it kinda melted a little bit of the plastic housing!! Wtf??? Im stumped!
-thanks for the input sicco.

if the wire is hot it means that is has way too much resistance. Jump the battery straight to the starter with a screw driver and see if it starts.
I'm guessing you hooked something up a tad bit wrong.

get yourself a cheap multimeter & wiring diagram and measure if you have any power in the ignition barrrel ... if not check your starter relay (this was my problem)
if yes then measure the two relays in the back (the engine stop and fuel cut) - if they are not good you can bypass them by bridging the two inner pins
hope this helps

its not grounding out properly. make sure the batt has a good ground. when its bad it makes it seem like ur batt is low when its not. and wires get hot. disconnect the batt using jumper cables connect positive to the bike then take the negative and clamp it on a bolt on the frame then try and crank it

it might work. i had a similar problem with a bike. sometimes when frames are painted the grounds are bad. pull out a bolt grind paint off and ground it out. hope it works bro

What kinda battery charger did u use?? if its anything more then 1.2 amps or some where around there u might have smoked the battery sounds dump but they cant take that much of a charge.. try chaning out a battery from one of ur friends bike n see if that works.. if not i would check all the fuses n get a battery load testr n see if it'll hold up.. Good luck
