636 Vs R6
So pretty much everyone in the UK is banging on about how great the b1h 636. It pulls really well on the idle and hass stronger subframe than the c1h.
Anyone know how this compares to the R6? and which year is best / and why...
I had an 03 R6 as a road bike and loved it, very responsive and brilliiant for endo's - was thinking about getting another to stunt.

Re: 636 Vs R6
i rode an 03 r6 all set up and loved it , it pulled good on idle and had great throttle response but the subframes are made of crap , i have seen a few break on street bikes just from putting down a stoppie too hard and the stock clipons break super easy ..
i also seen a thread where a few people all had the fuel pump fall apart from a crash but they all said they just took it out and snapped it back together ..
i would ride one if i got a good deal i would just firm up or replace the subframe and i would get better clipons and probably take the fuel pump out and find a way to keep it from falling apart ..

Re: 636 Vs R6
Cheers for that. What you doing up so early? or haven't you gone to bed yet?
yeah the fuel pump breaking would suck bad.
Do you know if the subframe has a weak spot or if they are just generally made of choclate?

i have an 05 r6 and i love it wouldnt trade it for anything... the subframes are junk all around but i stunted mine for 3 years before it cracked then shattered but there are a few companies that make them if your getting a good deal on and R6 worth getting the subframe

Re: 636 Vs R6
05 they changed to inverted 50mm forks with radial brakes but in 06 when the new r6 came out they changed back to the old front end.
You can easily put the new 06-10 front ends on r6 though, i have an 08 front end on mine.
the 07-10 (gold) front ends are 10mm longer then the 06 (black inverted) front ends
all yamaha 03+ r6 and 04+ r1 wheels fit in either bike, R1 wheel is lighter.
The brakes on the standard front end are 310MM - newer race model r6 and r1 has 320mm

Before anyone gets the idea to plastic weld or glue them all together I can tell you that they are nearly impossible to get out of the tank in 1 peace. Every time I have taken 1 out I had to un-snap the outer shell from the mounting base or pry the ever living **** out of them to get them out. They have a chunk that sticks off the side of it that makes them larger than the hole in the bottom of the tank.
With that said..... I loved my 05 that I had. Wish I did not have to sell it last year but I could not afford to keep it after I lost my job

Re: 636 Vs R6
fuel pump problem...just take 3 stainless tec screws and screw em in to the clip points so it cant come apart unless u first remove the screws..
05 has bigger injectors, dual fan radiator and the front end and brakes were carried over from the R1.. other than that its the same bike tru all the years of the "S" model.
subs junk...just dont hit the tail and youll be fine..lol

I've owned a 636 and have an 05 r6 now.....r6s are bittle. break alot of things easy, I bent my frame (broke a few heads and motors) thanks to a couple of pancakes lol r6 is fast pulls hard as hell. yamaha has the best brakes around. so r6 for the win.
woopa!
