i have an 07 gsxr with 4200 miles on it and i fell on a wheelie and the frame snap in half where the stock welds near the neck. should i get a new frame or its safe to welds it back ? its a clean title and has only 2300 mile on the title. the frame is compele is in two peice.
what you guy think?

Ever since whatever year it was that they started stacking the headlights gixxers have been snapping frames at that weld. 600's, 750's, 1000"s, and busas all of them have the same problem. I have seen them snap on bikes that have never had the front wheel leave the ground...

Shitty design and welding if you ask me..

 

shitcan that whole bike and get a 636 or f4i...i been telling people about the gix frames cracking for days now after i snapped mine after 4 months...

 

i read the dealer will glue a piece on the frame as a "warranty" fix

 

Its to bad that they forgot how to make frames. I like the way they look but I wont ever buy 1 because I tend to like not having to worry about my bikes braking in 1/2 for no apparent reason.

I cant tell you how many I see at the ins. auction that have busted frames. I wont bid on them because I don't want to have anything to do with the buyer of the parts off them getting hurt or killed by a frame on a bike that I helped get back on the road snapping.

 

Part the bike out, As Naarden said the dealer "fix" is just to epoxy 2 plates over the welds, Suzuki wont fix the real problem. Inferior metal and shitty welds, no penetration

 

everything is better with good penetration

 

I had the recall done on my bike, its a little stronger than what you describe. Its one big support that goes around the neck from one side of the frame to the other and is bolted to the radiator, still I know the fame is weak.

I had the recall done on my 06 1000 and yes they do glue support plates in on the inside but they also put a support bracket behing the radiator which bolts to both sides of the frame. I stunt an F4easy, maybe a 636 soon but ill prolly never stop riding gixxers. I'll put up some pics of the fix when I can.

I have seen em break in half.I'm suprised there have been no law-suits yet And yes they break from other stresses then just wheelies

 

Lawsuits never go through..i know a guy who wrecked a 06/07 style gix and it snapped in two, I about **** when I had to pick it up from the wrecker
