ok, so i found this to be funny and had to share my weekend adventure. so my buddy wrecks his 636 a week ago and bent both vortex clipons. instead of getting new ones he goes to lowes and buys plumbing pipe, good idea only its too thin. so he calls me up. i go over, he wants to ride that night so im like **** it lets duct it. we wrap duct tape around the bars push them into the clipons and voila so far it works like a champ. im not saying i would trust it, but he rocked wheelies all night with no probs. so fyi plumbing pipe + duct tape = replacement bar for vortex clipons oh if anyone has any spare bars for the 03-04 636 vortex clipons please shoot me a pm so we can fix this before something bad happens

In a pinch I would do this to get home. But would fix it before I went riding. Just buy correct diam bar an chop to fit. Or buy the stuff from the guy above me.

You do realize that you can go to a Metal by the Foot type place and just get 1ft sections of 7/8 Chromoly tube, right? I second keeping the camera on your buddy, I want to see what happens when his clip on breaks in the middle of a trick.

 

i went to fastnell and got solid cold rolled steel 7/8 3 foot for $20 . you thke that and cut it down and you can get 3 clip on s out of it.

The chromoly bars arent expensive. 1 foot peices are only like 3 bucks a peice or so.

 

so i told my buddy to buy these bars he says no lol. i told him the tape will only hold so long till it wears out but i guess he will find out the hard way oh well its workin for now. ill let you know when the inevitable happens. i told him no more wheelies with a passenger at least

Spend the $18 yourself.. THen surprise him.. Don't let him be a **** up.. Cuz if a freak accident happens and he dies.. You'll feel bad. =)

i am a 9 year plumber, and you what i do when i cant get a steel nipple(small peice of pipe) out of a thread, i take one hammer slap to it and it shatters, keep in mind ur boy is also tightening the bar clamps on it too creating another pressure point.. UR BOY IS AN IDIOT... They will shatter its a matter of time...

Man go buy them for your buddy so he doesn't kill himself. If he isn't going to use his brain you might help him out a little.

If something bends, I want it to be the bar and not my bar clamp
