Drifting

Ok so ive never really tried drifting b4 because tires are hard to come by in jamaica now i have a tire that almost finish and a tire waiting to go on so i figured what the hell lets drift this old tire off. My question is how do i do this what do i do and don't do? Ive seen guys drift and get criticize that they are not drifting they are doing rolling burn outs so how do i do this?
Thanks

tottaly 2 different ways:

rolling burnouts with the front brake are way slower speed and bike is no where leaned as much as slipping the clutch and letting back tire rip with no front brake..

Drifiting is the most fun on 2 wheels!

Re: Drifting

lock up the rear tire with the brake while turning left or right, that will put you into a skid, then while leaning and skidding in whichever direction your going to slip the clutch with a good amount of gas. the amount of gas depends on how sharp of a skid your going into. then once your in the drift its all about leaning, countersteering, and throttle input

Re: Drifting

also make sure your tire pressure is up. like over 30 psi. itl make your life alot easier. skid in and get your weight more forward on the bike. the right amount of throttle with slippin the clutch and as the bike drifts slightly wieght ur outside peg and keep consistant throttle. no need for the front brake (oh yea and crash alot) youl get it. good luck

Re: Drifting

From what ive seen, its all about commitment. One of those tricks where you just have to face the fear and get into the throttle (unless you start to highside).

+1

It's all about commitment, you do NOT want to chop the throttle at anytime during a drift. If you are drifting hard, and chop the throttle closed, you will most likely highside and get ejected.

Drifts don't tear up tires nearly as bad as burnouts, tires will last a long time doing drifts. Drifts aren't something you go out and blow a tire off in a few minutes, you could probably spend hours drifting without blowing a tire.
I know my friend drifts daily for at least a few minutes if not a long while, and still runs the same tire for weeks

Also like others said, lots of tire pressure, 32-40psi at least, and just come in using the rear brake to lock the wheel and get the bike going sideways, then drop the clutch and brake it loose...

It takes time, I suck *** at them and don't practice them at all.
I do however love pulling out in traffic on a halfway cold tire/ cold streets, and getting the bike as far sideways as I can as I accelerate away lol

Can only imagine what people think when I pull out in front of them, throw the bike a little sideways, then get a bit of a tank slap as my drift ends lol

Re: Drifting

I've been thrown off the bike more times then I can count learning them, but I still keep trying. I know I'm just not gassing it enough, but that is the part about committing to it I can't seem to get into my head...

Re: Drifting

drifting is so fun, its better to give it more gas and low side then not enough and highside. and trust me highsiding mid drift will get nasty hahahaha.
