would you???

use JB weld to hold mount tabs for second fan on a radiator? Or not strong enough? All the MX guys use it for this, but their bikes are hundreds of pounds lighter.

Did you read what he wanted todo.. LOL

Me personally i would use a piece of metal and jb weld the metal to the radiator and then bolt the fan to it.. JB weld is EXTREMELY strong if you let it cure for enough time.. I used it to seal up a cracked oil pan and its been working for 7 years now...

Worse case scenario, the fan breaks off and you run it over... Sucks if you're in a wheelie but whatever.. Its good practice to learn better brake control.. lol

Re: would you???

And if you tryed to jb the fan itself, the blades would be way to close.... Get 3 strips of metal bend them into L shape and then Cold weld the smallest section onto the top and bottom of the radiator and bolt the fan to the metal..

Re: would you???

ALL the mx guys do it? Or the ones who are broke which would also use jb weld to plug a leak in their radiator or a leak in their crank case?

Why not just have someone tig weld it? Got any tig welding friends? No? Then develop some... Or plan on spending $60-$100+/hr for any tig work you need..

I have 3-4 friends who can tig, 3 friends who can tig pop cans and razor blades together, a 4th who i'd let tig **** that isn't important lol

Re: would you???

on a side note, have you already wired your fan, and flushed your coolant?

Your bike is perfectly fine running at 230f.. It's only when you get above 240f do you need to really worry..

I only live in missouri, but one fan has always worked for me. Of course I also don't do rev limiter burnouts for minutes on end.. If I do go rev limiter its for 30 seconds max then I let my bike cool a little

Hahaha! No it's a squirrel. I used to pop prairie dogs in a field on Balsam Way (Wadworth Blvd) in Colorado. I would put the tailgate down and lay on it with my rifle and when they stuck their heads up....BAM.

Re: would you???

just make some of your own mounts/brackets and mount it on the original or to the frame somwhere, but i bet you get a good base and jb weld the hell outa it it will work. i got jb weld holding my rear handbrake master togeather, and its been working no problem for going on 2years.

Re: would you???

we use long skinny bolts, and nylon washers. Drill thru the foils in the radiator, missing the cores. easier than it sounds. put the bolts thru with nylon washers and tada. Use a few xtra on the inside to space the fan away.

Why yes,yes we do
Very easy to mount it that way,I used a 06 r6 fan on my f4i for a second fan,the hardest part is bending or tweaking the r6 mounting bracket tabs to allow for enough clearance for the diameter of the fanblades and so it wont hit the radiator.but other than that it's simple.

Re: would you???

thanks guys, got the mounting kit for $5 at parts store. Pretty much told me same thing. However a second 954 fan won't fit. Neet a skinnier fan, or feed this one a shitload of meth.
