Re: 06 636 fan switch
Ok, I'm going to try and make this as easy to follow as possible. This is how I wired my bike, but there are other ways to do it as well. Wiring it this way will allow you to turn the switch on and turn the fan on, but if you leave the switch off, the fan will still kick on like it did from the factory.
1) Locate your Relay Box (it is locate on the left side of the bike, you may have to remove the tail, but I don't remember. It should have 3 electrical connectors on it.
2) You want the connector that has 4 wires coming from it.
3) There should be a blue wire w/black stripe, Blue wire w/white stripe, a white wire, and a black wire w/blue stripe. Find the black wire w/blue stripe
Make sure you have the right wire or you will cause damage. With the key on, the white wire should have 12v, the blue wire w/black stripe should have 12v.
4) Tap into this wire
There are many ways to do this, cut and solder, remove terminal and
solder to pin, or scotch lock. Scotch lock should be fine since all we
will be doing is grounding this wire.
5) run this wire into one side of a switch
6) run a wire from the other side of the switch to any ground.
7) Put switch somewhere and you are all done.
The ECM sends a ground to the relay to turn the fan on, so these directions just make it so you can ground the relay to turn it on before the ECM does. If you forget to turn the switch on, the ECM will turn it on and off like normal. Hope this helps

ive getting ready to figure out how to do this on my 05 R6. thats exactly how i want it...... switch to over ride it to be on constintly, while still having the ability to just let the ECM kick it on its own other time when the switch is off. i wonder how similar it would be from bike to bike.....? i would think the hook up and wireing would be the same, just different color wires, relays and stuff......

Re: 06 636 fan switch
Just find the fan relay, the grounds are almost always the smallest wire going into the relay.
How I tap into the relay:
I use a but connector, cut the ground wire and put 1 original wire into top of butt connect and crimp. then i take the other end of the original wire and add a new wire to it, twist the two together and insert it to the only open end of the butt connector and crimp. run the new added wire to switch and have another wire coming out that switch to a ground.
works better then **** scotchlocks.
