zx10 forks on a 04 636?

I know there has got to be some posts on this but the damn search is not my friend today. So are these a direct bolt up as in I can use a 636 triple and a 05 up front fender or of there some bs that has to be done? oh and the brakes do you have to change any of this. Most of it looks the same so I would think this should go easy but I could be wrong

Re: zx10 forks on a 04 636?

i think the only difference is the wheels. i was told that zx10 wheels are not compatible with the zx6...so you would likely need the zx10 wheel as well.

that depends on if the triple is wider. But I am not sure. What about rotor size? I would assume that the rotors are bigger on the liter bike, so, you'll need the rotors too.

Re: zx10 forks on a 04 636?

Front wheels are different, ZX10's have a smaller diameter front axle...

And Im pretty sure the length of the forks is different, and maybe even the bottom triple openings for the forks?...

Re: zx10 forks on a 04 636?

U need to press the 636 stem into the 10 tripple.

Also the 10 forks are quite a but shorter than 636 and zx6r forks.

Ull need complet 10 frontend for this to be worthwhile, as well as a 636 stem from ur stock setup....

Re: zx10 forks on a 04 636?

the hole thing behind me wanting these was because I wanted the full black fork and zx10 where the only ones I have found yet. They do make a zx6 black fork but it's just the upped tube not the legs and are hard to come by but It looks like that might be the way to go

I have a ZX10 rim on my 06 ZX6R forks, but I had to bore out the ZX10 wheel bearing bores to install ZX6R bearing for it to fit...

What year are your forks? 04-06 have smaller axles

My forks are 06/07 zx10 forks. I've gone through a few different wheels and a few different sets of zx10 forks. I've never had to swap axles or seen any difference in the axles. I have not had any problem with sloppiness in the axle and bearing if they were that much smaller. There has always been a nice solid contact throughout the axle.

Ok thats why its only 04/05 ZX10R front wheels and forks that have smaller axles....06-09 ZX10 are the same axle as the ZX6R's

The tubes themselves on the 04/05 may actually be a different on the tube size as well the seals are different sizes.

so it sounds like all I need are the forks and the lower triple right? It makes sense since this sounded like it would work in my head but **** doesn't always work out so well in there lol. The zx10 forks look to be a tad shorter wich is no big deal. I also take it you used the 636 top trip since that's what I was planning. One more thing what about head bearings on this? Do you have to run a zx10 lower cup and bearings or no?

Do you have 05 and up rotors on your bike already? If not, you'll need rotors.

Re: zx10 forks on a 04 636?

well this is what you will need
zx10 forks 06-up it looks like the older ones don't work
zx10 lower triple
636 triple stem jam-e that has to be pressed out and pressed into the zx10 lower one
front rotors from either 05 up 636 or zx6r or zx10
and everything else should work it seems
The only thing I was worried about it the rake that the zx10 lower triple will give the bike? Either it could pull the forks in which could make stoppies easier or push them out to make it harder. I have no clue which it is
