Re: paint help

its not that you not preping correctly. the way paint cures or dries has alot to do with the finish product.......moist weather causes webbing as well as to much heat.....paint during the day in room temp.....if you painted late and set it in the garge e moisture made the webs.......hope this helps

Re: paint help

Try some duplicolor instead. I would sand it down to the bare fiberglass, clean it good, lay down a good primer and then hit it with the paint. Then if you want a professional look, get some fo the below clearcoat. Stuff works wonders from an aerosol.

Re: paint help

when you buy sand paper do not use the first piece in the pack because everyones greasy hands have been touching it which will cause you to get webbing. wipe you tank down very good with lacker thinner or mineral spirits, get a new piece of sand paper and try again. like some people said i would use dupli color it lays out better then krylon.

Re: paint help

Bwahahahaha.... rattle can... IT TAKES LONGER TO PREP THE PLASTICS THAN TO PAINT... SO WHY SKIMP ON THE PAINT? Go to an auto body store and get the good stuff, and ask them the ratios, and buy a 2 dollar ratio cup.... On new fiberglass parts you have to wipe it down real good with wax and grease remover... They lube up those pieces real good in the mold.. sometimes I spray em down with simple green and pressure wash them to get all the grease out... Oh and the spider webbing is called "fish eye" They make an addidtive to remove that as well... But good preppage is the best way to go!

Fish Eye and webbing is 2 different things from my perspective. Fish eye is when oil causes the paint to look kinda like when you spill gas on a rainy day. webbing is when the part and paint are 2 drastically different temperatures and the paint makes a bunch of little cracks like the salt flats in movies look like. The temperture change is what causes my paint to crack

Re: paint help

spider webbing is called lifting. looks like mountains on a semi-dimensional globe. fisheye is like a dip hole in the paint n is a chemical reaction to grease n oil etc. i just found out thst spider web or lifting is paint reacting to itself, u cant let krylon dry sand n respray, its one of those get it done quick things as fast as possible.. i just want black so ima strip to pimer n grab duplicolor. thanks guys
