Re: Valve stem ?

Since you said you were replacing the tire, I'm going to assume you can break the bead back off the tire. Its easier with the tire completely removed off the rim, but you can do it with just one bead broken. Both kinds of stems can be sourced at any auto parts store. If you have the option, get 90 degree stems.

Rubber Stem:
Cut off the remainder and remove from rim. I like to put a little soap on the new stem and you just pull it through from the inside of the rim outwards until it seats. Be careful not to mess up the threads.

Steel Stem:
Loosen nuts on outside of rim and remove stem. New stem generally gets installed with a rubber seal on either side of the rim to make it airtight. Tighten down gently with the first outer retaining nut, and use the second as a locknut with the first.

Both are really easy to do. Like I said before, if you can remove the tire completely from the rim, it will go much easier, but it isnt necessary.

Hope that helps some.

Re: Valve stem ?

The valvestem is installed from the inside of the rim...pushed through then a tool with a swivel head is screwed on where the valvestem cap goes and is used like a fulcrum and lever to pull it into place.
