636 Transmission Help

I have an 2006 636, and it has started popping out of first gear. Took yesterday off and replaced the shift forks.... and inspected the gear dogs and the drum. Saw no real issues.... slapped her back together, and went to ride just to find out that it was not the shift forks causing it. (Shifted to neutral in a jump to spreader, and slammed me down and threw me over the bars... haha)

When I inspected the gears and such, I saw nothing.... at least that would set off any lightbulbs. If someone has pics of the worn items so that I would know how to better look over the parts, can you please post them? (gear dogs, shift drum, shift star.... etc?)

Other than that.... any other ideas? It is only popping out of first into neutral.... all other gears are just fine.

Thanks a ton!

Very respectfully,
Buz

Re: 636 Transmission Help

We had the same bike at the shop with the same problem, only it was 2nd not 1st... ended up that the Drum had one little defect in it on one of the corners of the valley the shift fork rides in. it was small but definitely could tell with naked eye where it had been worn out, and wouldnt let the fork travel far enough or stay in the correct place to get the bike completely engaged into 2nd. i would re-inspect your drum, and your first gear.
