Stunting in high altitude...

For those that live in high altitude states, does it affect your gearing???

I came across someone that lives in NM and he automatically had to gear up cuz 5000+ feet of altitude.

Not true. Im in Albuquerque and the elevation is 5000+ and you notice it big time. Fuel injection doesnt make up for the air density.

Ask anyone thats come up here to ride and they'll tell you the same thing. My 636 is about a 516cc out here

Re: Stunting in high altitude...

elevation does play its part. doesn't make it impossible or anything, but power is definantly affected

Re: Stunting in high altitude...

I really can not notice a diffrent and i live in roswell. Just have to jet the hell out of it. ( if it is carb). But when you get it jetted right it is ok. When i take my raptor out to the duns i have to lift my needle x2 notches and that is only like 50 miles away. But runs good after that.

Re: Stunting in high altitude...

I used to live in Denver, CO and it really DOES make a difference. Even when I bought my F150 from Phil Long Ford I remember them saying something about high altitude affecting even how a FI engine breathes.

Wheatridge, huh? After Denver, I moved to Littleton so I was on the other side of town from you. Riding through the Tech Center around 5:00 was like suicide!!!

some gearing, make sure your bikes running good. good air filter and just deal with it, if you ever take your bike to lower altitude you love it..
