1000rr master vs brembo
1000rr master vs brembo
hey has anyone ever went from an 05 radial front master of like the r1 or 1000rr and switched to a brembo, maybe let some insight into how much better it is. i have a hhd dual cali with the 4 piston and the ******* brake blow ***, im changed the rotor to a new 636 rotor sotck and the ebc hh pads and its just plain blows, barly getting a 2 finger lock up, half the time it cant save its own *** when i clutch it up hard. any ideas?
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
you got something wrong if you can't get lock up
I run a 1000rr master with a junction valve and can just barely lock up 1 finger
my friend with a 1000rr master + hohey dual caliper can lock up with about half the force of his 1 finger

Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
well ive done bleeding mounted, but what do you guys find is the best way, and what kinda fluid you running? i do have common problems with getting air in the master from crashing, i just crack the line a bam shes back up but its never really worked great since ive put it on, maybe it does have air in there somewhere. As far as the rotor i replaced it recently and both rotors felt the same. i did scuff the rotor up before i put it on. same with the pad.
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
Try bleed master and caliper unbolted from bike so the bleed valve is highest point. Air bubbles can rise up n out better. Pads need a few miles tomatch thwear grooves on the rotor.
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
Well theres NO doubt that the 16x18 Brembo is better than the 1000rr master, but u should have lockup with the setup u have. Ive had both masters and I run the Brembo now. If ur using the Honda 4 piston caliper, put the STOCK Honda pads back in it. Scuff the rotor with scotch brite and clean with brake parts cleaner... rebleed the system at the master and at the caliper, spread the pads several times to clear the line of air & try again

Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
thanks ill definetly try all that, did you notice a huge diff. between those masters? i mean like is it really worth the 250 and the cost to replace levers compared to the cheap 15 dollar 1000 rr levers and an 80 dollar master?
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
I run the 1000rr master and gp tech junction valve and love it! I can lock up with my index without a problem. Its a cheap handbrake and a cheap fix when breaking a lever. Does the job for me, Like these guys said I would try bleeding from every spot possible. Sounds to me like you either have air in the lines/master or you need to adjust where you break lever is and where you pull it in. I have mine as far right on my db's as possible, allows for more leverage using the farthest to the end of the lever possible
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
i just got a 16x18 (not here yet on the way) and went from the full throttle rear master to a dual caliper 2 piston and im anxious to see the difference i was running the 06 gsxr radial master i didnt like that set up very much i hope this new set up is the shiznet cause i have no more money for another set up
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
i had to use bell rays purple dot 5....has helped the seals in my brembo not swell and maintain pressure...and before this, i checked the pads, and one of them was cracked.....i spent all day bleeding and changing washers, vaccums, the whole 9, when all i needed was to use good fluid n change the pads.
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
I just got a vacum bleeder that you hook up to a air compressor. OMG takes me like 5min to bleed all the brakes on my bike. My 4 piston HB was always strong and would lock up with 1 finger but i guess it still had some air in it cause after bleeding it with vacum it is so much stronger now.
Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
wow i dont get how people have these 4 piston dual set ups with radials and complain about their **** not working...i remember when i had a leaky gp tech held in with hose clamps,a rotor that was worn in 4mm,a zx7r front brake master that was made for 6 pot brakes and could barely pull it in a half an inch and worn out brake pads..and i rocked that ****..even tho my bikes engine brake had about 5 times more braking power..
anyway enough rambling and no offense to anyone..just dont see how people have these radial set ups with 4 piston calipers and dont have enough braking power lol.

Re: 1000rr master vs brembo
I run hhd 4 piston and Brembo 16x18.
I got it very cheap on ebay, and it locks up with middle finger with no problem, If you ask me It's a bit touchy until you get used on it!
I use Valvoline dot 5.1 break and clutch oil!

+1 if your trying bleed with out a vacum bleeder you're gonna have a little difficulty. Cyclegear sells a handheld vacum bleeder that works pretty well but not as good as one that you hook up to a compressor.
