anyone stunt with a gsx-r 600..?

i have a 98 gsx-r 600 that has NO BALLZ... I have to practically hold it near redline and pop the clutch just to get it up

I was thinking of putting on new gears and a chain.. is this my best solution? What size sprockets should i get?

thanks!

The 98/99 gsxr is easier to wheelie and easier to control. The fuel injection on the newer 600s makes it alittle harder to control. You should try a bigger rear sprocket, but start small48-50

It will only come up when i almost redline and pop the clutch. Possibly it needs some major carb work? My buddy Vic stunts a 900 RR and at first thought it was my riding- so he tried and didn't do much better.........

i was planning on getting some new sprockets.. 2 up, 2 down ?

I got an 01 gixxer 6 and i went 1 down 5 up at first and that helped alot. Now i am 1 down and 13 up and to tell you the truth there isnt much difference i can tell as of yet. But i just got them so im not for sure, but gearing deffinetly helps though.

I had the same bike a couple summers ago. I was never very good at wheelies, but mine would come up in first no prob and would do stand-ups in second easly too. I didn't have to use any clutch for the 2nd gear stand-ups. All I would do is bring it up around 8 grand stand up on the pegs and snap it. The front end would come right up no prob.

I was running stock front and 2 up in the rear. I had a vanes and hines bolt on with a k&n filter. It was re-jetted and had suspension work done which may have helped with the stiffer rear-end. In stock form, the 98' 600 did seem a little weak. You gotta make some mods or re-gear it to wheelie for days. Good luck.

Practice, and patience. I can clutch up 1st, and ride them out all day now. It will just come to you one day. But I am gonna go -1/+2 soon, to make 2nd gear easier.

IBWS Jerry,

I was talking with Shugga about my bike .. and he said that I should talk with you-

So, thanks for the advice!

I'm going to have Cycle Tech on Harlem look at it for me and then give 2 down 7 up a try for starters
