Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
if you are not running headlights or no front harness just cut the red and the greeen on oposite sides of the plug that goes to the front harness and put them together

Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
i put 2 new spare's on still didn't turn the fuel pump on. i am just looking for a wire to jump the fuel pump then ill start digging . i am way frustrated like i said all i did was loaded my bike up and rode it up the ramp the turned it off . I came home from airshow and now it just turns over but no fuel pump prime.
unplug it from the factory harness, and just run a piece of speaker wire or ANY wire you have laying around your garage to the pump

Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
I'm high as hell and skimming this post. So it may have been said. But I got sick of tryin to trace wires and ****. I took off the rear plastic. There are 2 relays that are under your right *** cheek if you were sitting on the seat. I believe it is the closer to the front one. But that is your fuel pump relay. I bypassed mine over 3 years ago and it runs the second I turn my key til I turn it back off. Never burned one up. But you need to take a piece of wire and connect 2 of the wires. They are kiddy corner to eachother. That is all I know. But I stuck the wire in and tested each. Then when the pump comes on, jam the wires in there and tape the **** out of it.

Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
your problem might be the ignition switch, most people dont know this (Unless you steel bikes) but there is a restitor in your ignition switch. and if it goes bad your fuel pump will not turn on.
You wont find it in a wiring diagram, it is a security feature honda builds in to it.
There is a way to bypass it with a 9 volt battery. but i cant remember how to do it i will ask my friend tomorrow.

Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
we spent hours trying to figure out this problem with my friends bike. We ended up calling honda's tech suport line and thats when we were told about the resistor.

Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
yeah it stays on cause you are giving it constant power, that means your pump is good. Its probably one of those relays like dude was talkin about. Arent those relays interchangeable? If you know someone with an f4i just borrow there relay for a hot second.

either way, them relays SWAP... so if you really wanna test it, trade them with eachother

Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
was this problem solved.. i'm having the same problem with my 2003 F4i :/
I unloaded my bike and next did it just doesn't want to start FML
The relay is good.. the tip over sensor mod has been done. spark plugs are good. i checked all connections, plugs, any loose wiring if ground is touching..
still no prime

Re: how to jump the f4i fuel pump
Anytime there is a fault in the electrical system just about ANYWHERE on the bike, the bike fail safes and shuts the fuel pump down
it's a safety thing, so if you get in a crash, you're fuel pump doesn't sit there dumping fuel all over you.
999999% of the time it has nothing to do with the fuel pump, and everything to do with a bad connection or something unplugged somewhere
If you don't even have your throttle position sensor hooked up it wont prime
Just about every single f4i that the fuel pump wouldn't turn on, that I've worked on, was a DIFFERENT problem.. It's always a unplugged connector, a broke connector, a frayed wire, a pinched wire, a pulled wire, something somewhere. Goodluck!
