hey i have a shoei rf-1000 and i am planning on buying a new helmet i was wondering what you guys think about icon helmets im thinking of getting the domain 2 mechanica helmet does anyone own icon helmets and what do you think of it?

 

i dont mind em for the lot. On the street, i prefer a quieter helmet. You get what you pay for with icons, your paying for graphics essentially. core construction is marginal.

Id like to get an arai eventually... but wouldn't we all

 

i figured that icon would be a well known company i can get that mechanica helmet for like 260 and i thought it would be good since they go for 420

i think you took loud the wrong way i think he was tryin to say they kinda stick out like a soar thumb . i rock the death from above icon it draws attention sometimes unwanted but designs ok. as for core strength i ate **** with my last one kinda fell apart and i felt like this> afterward. like T-NECK said u get what u pay for thats why i rock the arai for the streets.

ya i know that icon graphics draw alot of attention but how is the helmet at high speeds airflow and sound

and if i can get an arai for a good price ill pick one up

 

sorry i keep it in the city and the lot cant tell you that dont really get over 60mph plus dont run a shield on mine so of course my ***** noisy

 

my mainframe airflow kinda sucks at any speed with visor down...

 

shoei are my favortie i wouldnt trying shark helmets they look sweet and are suppose to be nice and they cost as much as icons

 

I've got one. Had shoei and a few others. Shark is favourite so far.

I was given an Icon by one of my sponsors and i found it hotter heavier and the inner material more abrasive then any of my arai or shoei helmets. i still use it for riding to work on chilly mornings. if i could only have one helmet it wouldnt be a icon

 

i have the death from above......
it's not the best feeling helmet ever, but it works and it wasn't that expensive

 

they look sick but if i had a choice i would swap mine out for a arai. they are nice when its cold if you use the chin cover. my

I have always worn arai. Late last year I needed a new helmet. I got a Icon only because it was free BUT, I must admit that its a lot higher quality than other helmets in its price range. Arai is a lot quieter on the street but seems to fog up easier in the rain I rode a turbo hayabusa yesterday at pin the speedo stupid speeds and wind noise wasn't really to bad with the icon

 

they look good on a shelf............. but i do rock a domain II just because i spend all my money on cocaine and beer.. but one day i will get a good lid...


guy just told me the other day " if you have a $100 head, then get a $100 helmet"
so i may of already over spent on the icon
