03 636 overheating within 10 min
Re: 03 636 overheating within 10 min
1.check make sure it has coolant
2.check if fan is working
if those are fine let bike cool down open cap start and make sure there isnt an air bubble
if still does it thermostat is probaly bad

Re: 03 636 overheating within 10 min
or cap can be bad and not open at the correct temp... And how do you know its over heating? do you have guages? or is it just over pushing out the overflow.. and also check the two little hoses coming off the top of the rad, one goes to the overflow and the other goes to the motor but sometimes they get switched.

Re: 03 636 overheating within 10 min
Your Thermostat is probably stuck closed like everyone said....Does the bike over heat just idling? so you could try and remove the thermostat and run the bike but problem is your bike may never reach operating temp or over heat cause the coolant system is very small and flowing to fast and bikes are also cooled by air. i would try and flush the coolant system completely out and re-add coolant and purge the system and replace the thermostat since your going through the trouble. If your still overheating after trying that.... you may have popped the head gasket do you notice loss of coolant?? or your oil being overfilled? or a sweet smell when the bike is running?
Re: 03 636 overheating within 10 min
overheating can be caused by:
Air bubble
head gasket
blocked hose/broken hose
defective cap that isnt sealing
something blocking the front fins of the radiator
My mate had a RB20DE Nissan Cefiro, and it was doing the same thing, overheating on the highway and all the rest of it
We took thermostate out, didnt do ****, changed the cap, didnt do ****, flushed the coolant and replaced it, didnt do ****
Turned out to be the head gasket leaking

Mine was over heating and it was the waterpump!
I rebuilt my water pump $65
wraped my headders $60
kept my stock fan and added a 07 08 R6 fan i run at all times. $50
And run 40 below coolent.. $20
I just did a show the other day and it was like 90 that day.. Beet the hell out of it stand still burnouts the works for a long time and it ran cool the hole time.. Its pretty amazing how much cooler it run now!

Re: 03 636 overheating within 10 min
i'm doing that in the near future, and also. make sure the fins aren't too badly beat up on the radiator, if they are it's hard for it to cool
Re: 03 636 overheating within 10 min
One thing to add, how's the oil? The oil helps keep the engine cool as well by absorbing heat from the engine and reducing friction, and if there is not enough oil you'll have more friction, which will equal greater engine temps. If you hardly have any oil, the bike will heat up more and quicker. I'd still check the thermostat first though.
