no this is not about smoken herd. always wondered how many miles is to many. might as well ask now. im lookin at a 2002 cbr 600 f4i, it has 18k miles. dude wants kbb (3800). so yeah. how high is too high?

Both my bikes had over 30k when i got em and sold em for more than blue book later with who knows hw many miles things are indestructable!! buy it up son

My 01 GSXR 600r came to me with ??? on the dash.. and 18k on the title.. and that was handed down 2 times before the title was changed.... That thing ran 100% .. I miss her.. even tho she had a hickup in 2nd gear

 

i don't think that there is a magic number on how many miles is too many it has alot to do with how it was maintained and riden. I have rode bikes with 25000+ miles on them that run stronger than some with 6000 miles. Obviously bikes with 15,000+ miles will need alittle more TLC but i never have shyed away from owning a bike with that many or more miles if it was taken care of.

On the other hand i wouldn't pay 3800 for it

 

bought my f4i with 15000 miles. i then stunted it, rode it to work and did about 40 shows on it until i blew the engine from having it lying upside down with the idle at 4000.. it ran fine! it then had almost 30000 miles on it!

 

Two friends of mine just got a 2000 GIXXER 750 with 22000 miles on it and the other got a 2007 Gixxer with 15000 Both run perfect so I would say ask as many questions as you can, ask how they rode the bike, stunting, racing, casual, all of the the above. Also check the oil when get a chance see how bad it looks, if they let it get dark means they prob have ran it really really hard or they dont change it as often as they should. If they don't change the oil as they should it wears everything out a lot faster. Check brake pads and rotors, worn pads can tell you hard braking or again not a lot of up keep tells you how they took care of their bike.

f4i motors only go bad from serious abuse, or from not taking care of the cam chain tensioner. if it has an aftermarket CCT its good to go.

 

I have 18k on my 07 gsxr, and it runs as good as the day I bought it, I wouldn't trade my bike for anything comparable(sp) out there.

theres people that have gotten 50,000 miles out of a sportbike with a stock engine. its a fact and i can name a few people i know. its all about the maintenance. but problem is you dont always know what your getting. it doesnt take much to alter the mileage on a bike. (swap the gauges with another bike or buy a set on ebay for less than a hundred bucks)

I have going on 27k on my f4i and it still runs strong, no probs at all...

 

for a f4i with that many miles thats high on the price miles are not to bad rock that **** till it blows n put a new motor in it nort to bad

 

$3800 is high,18,000 miles isn't high at all,offer him $2500

Put over 10k on my f4i first summer I had it, and that was with owning 2 dirt bikes which I ride just as much
