Factory Stunt Bikes?

Our sport seems to be growing exponentially, and it seems like it's only a matter of time before manufacturers become wise to this. Recent trends so far have brought us many more naked bikes. So who's to say that Honda or Yamaha wont think about putting cages, twelve bars and hand brakes on a stock bike. I know you're all thinking that there is too much liablity involved, but in reality is a 190 mph GSX-R 1000 any more dangerous then a 10 mph circle high chair? Think about the sick possibilities that a factory stunt bike could provide. Not saying it's gonna happen, but anythings possible. What do you guys think.

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

Cant warranty the damn thing!!!
Most stunters want certain items on their bikes ( custom )
Doesnt this take the fun out of it??? Then every d-bag ( yut ugh ) will buy one and to many people will get hurt and wont be doing/ learning it correctly

Oh yeah, and drop 10k on a bike im gonna beat the p'ss out of?? Who's going to insure a stunt bike?

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

I think that even if they did (and they wont) built factory bikes for our riding, no one would buy them. Every one of us likes different things and I like the way my bike is set up. I dont want some factory designer telling me what stunters want. I just wish they would make the bikes a little less brittle now days.

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

the only thing i could possibly see happening in the future is maufacturers getting together with stunt parts makers and putting them on at the factory and having the extra parts part of the total sale. kinda like they do with some cars and aftermarket options. i doubt even that will ever happen though.

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

I believe this topic has come up a few times before........... I'd never buy a factory stunt bike, not when I can get a wrecked bike for $1500, and put $1500 or less of my own custom parts on there and have a dope stunt bike for $3G's. The mfg's wouldnt sell enough of them to make it worth their efforts. Lets just say there have been 500,000 F4i's produced since 2001. Out of that 500,000 how many of them made it to the life of a stunt bike? my guess is less than 10,000.

what would it cost for Honda to make 10,000 stunt bikes? what would their profit margin be if any?

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

it would encourage wannabe stunnas to buy a complete NEW bike. theyre not in the business of selling used bikes so if they would sell 10k more bikes a year just cuz of the additional stunt parts, it would still be profitable even if the margin was nil on the extra parts.

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

some factory gearing options would be cool, or have a option for a handbrake or something..... but have you ever priced OEM parts a factory handbrake for a suzuki would be a grand.

wasnt KTM sportin a "factory stuntbike" concept like last year?

well i personally dont find it fun to set up a bike .I just dont trust anyone to do it right .I wouldnt want to have to worry if some thing was tight or cross threaded or just some pos part. Thats why im the only one to set my bike up.

+1
thats all they really need to do. and leave the stunt mods up to us. each year bikes get more and more lighter and weaker which is not cool.

i wish. this sport has been going for quite some time and really gone nowhere except for a select few who are making a decent living at it.

if u search theres prolly a dozen threads about it on here, cuz people run across a pic of it and think its breaking news..... but it is pretty sick

its supposedly internally geared... built in cage, 12 bar, pretty sick concept atleast KTM recognized that we exist... even if they never make it, i asked a rep about it at the KTM tent at Mid ohio last year all he had to say was "uhh yeah that things pretty cool huh"

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

At the dealership by there is a new r6 they added a FI cage and twelve bar. It's gonna be funny when someone buys it and trys to scrape.

Re: Factory Stunt Bikes?

Yeah I would love to see big companies support our sport but they already catch so much **** for makin bikes that go 190mph, i dont think they would want people sueing them because they got a ticket for doing a wheelie because "its what they made the bike to do"

sadly i think the best thing for stunting would be to stay an underground niche. the larger it gets the more it will be cracked down upon. I love when i see the big names on tv and gettin there due credit, but unlike FMX when it broke off of motorcross and in my mind is getting way bigger than racing..... 95% of stunting is illegal activity
