Re: Problems with Sick round bar

mine was a dam tight fit on an 07 zx6r. The holes closet to the bar used the undertail exhaust bolt holes but the front holes lined up with the welds. Cracked on sub where I had drilled the holes, on the new sub I've had hose clamps up front and no problems.

ummm.... didn't think of that, did you put one on each side or a pair on each side maybe?

Re: Problems with Sick round bar

I used 1 on each side 3 or 4 inch diameter(bigger stronger). Rather one of those break than the subframe.

Re: Problems with Sick round bar

My SI round bar took alot more to get on than just grinding some welds flush. I think some people would have sent the **** back.

ya I STILL had to beat it on my friends bike

but I don't remmeber it the bolts were ON The welds or on the edge..

I know the bolt holes hit the welds, but it still went into either the top or bottom subframe rail i just dont 'remember...

It was definitely tight fit, but I still got it on fairly easy.. I just had to beat it on with a hammer cause it HUGED the subframe lol

Re: Problems with Sick round bar

yea I got mine on but took some persuasion. the problem with mine was, and just by looking at it off the bike you could see it, the bracket on the left side was straight, and on the bike it laid flush on the subframe, but the right side shot out into space. almost a full inch away at the very end and it pinched at the base. hard to explain but I had to grind some of my subframe that i definately didnt think would have been the norm. And like you I had to beat it on with a hammer still. The bolts brought the end sticking out back in but I think they could work on improving the fitment of it.

Re: Problems with Sick round bar

dont drill through the welds just put the bar on there to its best fit and put your own holes in it. subframes are week enough as is i would leave what ever structural integrate it has intact. but thats just me

Re: Problems with Sick round bar

A new local guy has a flat bar from them. Same issue. I wouldn't trust drilling through the welds.

I just told him to call them and ask them what's up. I've had several 905 and MXD bars and never had to do anything but line it up, drill the holes and bolt it on. Its a 12 bar, you shouldn't have to do anything else.

+1 If they can't get it right just leave the bar undrilled so people can just drill there own holes where they want them. I would REALLY hate to sell stunt parts though theres some real idiots that buy stunt parts and than can't figure out how to put them on! (not saying the thread starter is) because it sounds like the whole fitment is an issue not just where they drilled the holes..

But best bet if you have a f4i, 05-06 636, or r6, buy a ATOWN CUSTOM bar and you will be happy!

Oh wait my bar came undrilled from atown and I thought I was going to have to duct tape it on because I just couldn't figure out how he expected it to go on undrilled!

Re: Problems with Sick round bar

Ya its weird, why would they drill the holes so that its in the middle of the welds, such a weak point, redrilled mine and its perfect now, but thats pretty shitty if you ask me.

Ya that's really stupid, if it would have came undrilled I'm sure this thread wouldn't even have been started ..

I think bars should come undrilled anyway, I mean you have to drill your holes in your subframe where you want it anyway!
