i read that there is a ban on small powersports? anyone else seen this or am i misinformed... there's a website where you can sign the petition agaist it and everything. http://www.tomself.com anyone know anything else about this?

 

Ya this happened over a month ago. Where have you been at? Do a search, there are already several threads about this. To sum it up, it's true and really sucks.

 

I believe it's a huge overreaction of the 'lead poisoning'. They found lead in small childrens toys coming straight from China or Japan. They panicked and took it into the powersports dealers also. Anything that is made for children (such as 50cc dirtbikes, and wheelers) are banned. You can't even get parts for those bikes if you already own them.

 

a ban on and where tho? like stopping the production of them? whats the deal?

I dont know exactly where its all affected... But all the bikes just sit in the warehouse and collect dust. We can't even get rid of them nor sell them back to the original manufacturers.

if i understood it correctly its a ban on all small atvs, dirtbikes, etc. even parts are banned. you cant purchase, sell, or operate them... if i understood it correctly.

cannot sell those bikes at all anymore, not dealers anyways. also not legal to sell oem parts for them since the lead content is too high or some b.s.
it's a law that changed. and untill the law changes, people are stuck. all the manufacturers sent out letters to dealers when it happened. really gay.

My store has KTM, Honda, kawi, suzuki, yamaha, polaris, and bombardier. We had to pull over 20 models off the floor. As far as parts go If the part will also fit a model not under the restriction we can sell them. But if it is specific to a bike/bikes under the restriction cant sell it until its cleared by the gov. but they arent restricting EBay just parts from OEM.

The ban reads, ALL items markets at a child 12 and under ( including toy ect.) cannot be sold untill they pass a lead content inspection, unless they have prior passed such inspection. Thats the short version of it

Its a ban on all *childen oriented* vehicles. Im guessing its some save the children bullshit that some **** with power started because she bought her son a little dirtbike and he hurt himself.

Dealerships aren't allowed to sell any 'childrens' vehicles because of this. Not even what they have left.

Whoever approved this should DIAF and be buried with all the other *****.
