well me and my buddy went riding today to scout out some stunt spots....found one that was decent and out of the way..

went to an industrial area and ran into cop while riding around looking...i thought ill give talking to him a try..so when he slows and he gets to us i turn my bike off and flag him over....tell him we were trying to get it off the streets....he said he had no prob with it as long as u dont leave trash and do burnouts everywhere...but if a cop wanted to be a dick he could give u reckless driving on private ticket....said if someone saw us and decided to be a **** and call police they would have to come out....but if we had permission from owner then we would be straigt....

just didnt really wanna walk in and be like hey can i ride wheelies in your parking lot when ur not here....just seeking a little input

Pretty sure they cant give you a wreckless on private property... maybe get you for trespassing

 

yeah thats what i thought....figured i would ask him cause that spot was **** anyway just to see what he would say...

he was cool and said he wouldnt give a ****...hed prob watch..and he was checking the bikes out...

so i figured he was tellin the truth about the reckless on private..but yeah thats the first ive heard of it also


would like to get permission if at all possible for a spot so we dont have to worry about anything....just ride and not have all the bullshit

 

just had a cop tell us he could a few weeks ago, and i have heard of people getting them. This guy told my buddies and i he could give us a ticket in our driveway lol ftp

 

just go in and talk to a supervisor and explain how u need a spot to do it safely and off streets. most will be cool with it as long as its away from the building and not near the tan paved loading areas. and no burn outs . We asked plenty of people and only one or two said no. just get written permission incase a cop does come by.

 

I personaly have never heard of anyone getting a WD in a parking lot... but I also don't know everything about the law... I know people can get DUI's in parking lots so that may be true. Time to google it.

 

here in florida any parking lot that has public access is the same as being on a public road , private property or not ..

im guessing that since the cop told you that it is probably the same where you are ..

Just go at night when the place is closed. If the cops come, lie to them and say the owner gave you guys permission to ride there at night. If cop questions it anymore, tell him you'll leave. Pull away, wait an hour and go back

 

i always tell them that the owner lets us ride here but he can't put it in writing because of liability

Yeah and it usually works for the most part.

Most cops that work the midnight shift are fairly cool, they prolly stumble across your stunt spot because they need somewhere outta the way to sleep for a few hours. Or their more worried about catchin drunks at night and aren't worried if we kill ourselves behind some warehouse

 

#1- If you ask them and they say no... then go ride there your screwed, but if you dont ask then they tell you to leave then whatever go find a new spot... thats the dilemma...
#2 - Search for the Insurance liability waiver here on SL and print it out and when you go ask him about riding there show them that you have the contract and you are being 100% legit and that you will take full responsibility for anything that happens there and will pay for any damaged property.
#3 - If and when you do ride there put up cones... not cheesy football practice cones that you buy at Wal-mart but the real road construction cones and bring them there with you and block off any entrance to the property from the main roads..

If you do those three things you should be straight legally... now skill wise... thats on you... I gotta dope spot now I just have to get time to practice so I can stop sucking..

Anyone can write up a permission slip and say the owner signed it. Unless the owner is there when the cops come to back up your claim, you got nothing, and if the owner was there and the cops still told you to leave, the owner would side with cops 100% of the time.

 

they just want to kick us out so we do it on the street so they can start writing tickets FTP

 

If you have a signed contract thats legit like the one thats here on SL then he cant make you leave because you arent doing anything wrong... Tell him to suck a fart out of your *** and to leave the property because he is breaking the law by tresspassing and he is not on the insurance waiver that your on

 

u can do wat i did i wrote a letter and a permission thingy stating wat we r doing and that we wouldnt be doing burnouts and we wouldnt trash the place we even through in we would pick up trash that wasnt ours to keep the place clean they made me sign a waiver that i couldnt sue them if i got hurt and noe some of them come out and watch and i suck im just learning they like watching me fall but we have a place to practice with no worries and they can only give u a tresspassing ticket nothin else but they can only give u that ticket if a higher up calls on u i keep that paper and waiver on me wen i go so in other words just ask if they say no then find a new place it never hurts to ask just dnt b a dick

to the first part yes he can, and to the second part no you're not straight.... here at hooters(which is private property) they had a bike night and the manager asked my team to come out and ride the lot.... a cop came by and saw keith in a circle wheelie... pulled in like a badass and starting yelling at us to shut the bikes down.... the manager(in charge of the entire place) came out as the cop was tripping out and told him that we were ok and he wanted us there.... the cop then continued to write keith a ticket for wreckless... the manager argued with him not to... keith went to court and lost.... its a shitty thing dude but you gotta remember not even ten years ago this sport was completely underground, there was no permission or waivers, you got caught ****** off in a lot you went to jail bro... alot of cops still see us as the *********** instead of them just evolving with the times, its a growing sport, i mean its international for **** sake, riders come from japan and europe just for the SW circuit... idk man the way i look at it is i go ride my **** where and when i can, i got a couple places locked down now, but before i did we just went where we could, if we got kicked out or tickets oh well, a little chunk of change compared to the fun we were haveing, i mean a cops not gonna end you man, you'll still be that stuntrider that the squids girlfriends thinks about while messing with her junk lol.... long story short...just go ride dude, were stuntriders, we get in trouble all the time for dumb ****...we cant be a pussies in this sport,
