2nd offense in less than a year, they'll definitely hit you with charges. But lawyers always help. Some are tight with judges or county prosecutors and may be able to cut you some slack or maybe plea bargain to a non moving violation. But, it also depends on the judge...

Re: Reckless for doing a wheelie question

If you have one already you just might want to get a lawyer do to points against you...Just a thought, I think that they are 6 points, not for sure so dont hold me to that... But i am sure that if you do have insuruance that might hurt the pocket book lol. good luck.. I got one bout 5 years ago so i dont remember the specifics.

Re: Reckless for doing a wheelie question

Well you need to go see a lawyer and see what he says, ask around and find out who is the best... because in NY a reckless is a misdermeanor and 2 misdermeanors is a felony... Oh yeah... and if you pull over... always get a ****** lawyer.... always... pay out the *** just to get that **** dropped... i paid like 600 just in lawyer fees to get my misdermeanor dropped **** all that noise ill fork the cash out always... they know loop holes and how tyo talk to the DA

Re: Reckless for doing a wheelie question

ive fought wheelie tickets but lost.. there are no laws that specifically say a wheelie is illegal so a good lawyer could argue a good case especially if the cop has to admit it was "controlled".. i made the argument you can still steer a bike since leaning is how a bike turns unlike a car and my speed was not timed as speeding and i had control of braking with the rear brake..the cop admitted i was not out of control and not weaving all over the road & the judge actually had to recess for a week to look up codes & think about it since i said it comes down to the actual interpretation of the law and how its applied.. eventually he ruled it was a stunt and said since a stunt is not made for the street it was carelss and i got a "careless" charge. if i had a lawyer i think i couldve won on an appeal.

i hear ya, on my 954 for a 3rd gear standup down the highway i had to start at ~98 mph to get the front wheel to pull up with a small bounce.. i'd start my 2nd gear wheelies at about 45mph though.

Re: Reckless for doing a wheelie question

well the law in ok is prolly different then here in tx but i actually got thrown in jail with in the same week for wheelies. get a lawyer even a court appointed one an argue that you practice enough an are safe enough to ride an not be reckless to anyone. argue its no different then drivin while on the phone or eatin like most people. tell then you have special feature on your bike (hand brake) as long as you werent out of control they cant prove you were out to hurt anyone. i got charged on willfull want and disregard for personal safety an property an they couldnt prove i was reckless b/c the cop said "well he did stay in his lane he wasnt speeding an he did not deterr anyone on the road" an they let me go on community service. worked both times. the judge was not happy though an said never come back or id stay in jail lol i had to pay for bail but thats it. it might work for you but fight it bro. **** em

Re: Reckless for doing a wheelie question

i'm running the stock gearing 16/43 and i dont clutch it up since i never had a Yut Ughhh lesson... for it to come up smoothly in 3rd i gotta be at 98mph and get off & on the throttle & give it a slight tug..im sure i could yank it up in 3rd from 60-80 and prolly have in the past but the sweet spot is 98 on my bike when it comes up smoothly and controlled, it's no fun going into a one wheeled wobble at high speeds on the highway... 2nd gear wheelies i can just crack the throttle anywhere over 7K rpms and it comes right up with no issue.. btw, it aint a stunt bike.

Re: Reckless for doing a wheelie question

Get a lawyer, I did, out here it was $3000. retainer for a misdermeanor and 100 bail.
In the end dismissed, clean record. Insurance for the next 7? yrs with a reckless would have been fucked.
Wheelies on my bike:
1st=0-20mph
2nd=20-30
3rd=30-40
4th=40-50....top speed 109.Yeah
