Motocross helmet or full face?

OK so I don't like starting pointless threads, but there is a question I need to ask.

Who on here uses an mx helmet for stunting and do you think it makes a huge difference?

I use a regular icon helmet but I've seen some nice moto helmets for cheap that I'd like to purchase.

I'd just like to see some opinions

Re: Motocross helmet or full face?

I use both. I think if your doing stoppies, a regular helmet is more safe. If I'd have been wearing my mx helmet when I flipped a stoppie, my face would have scraped on the ground some. The opening is much wider, so if you happen to hit face first, there is a chance your face can push its way out of the helmet slightly.

Re: Motocross helmet or full face?

there is also a rating system for the amount of g forces transfered to your head.. for ex miltary helmets that are used in combat only transfer a max of 100 g's to ur dome where as snell aproved helmets can only transfer up to 150'gs or and so on.. i maybe a little wrong on this whole concept it may not be g' forces but but there is some rating system and mx helmets may be less safe....? it was a drunken night i vaguely remeber speakin with some1 about this ish

Re: Motocross helmet or full face?

A. Dirtbike helmets look retarded.
B. They're prone to breaking at the chin piece on hard hits.

We ride in 115 degree heat during the summer just fine in full face helmets.

Buy a good helmet, it's your head for crying out loud.

Edit: Check craigslist for helmets. I buy a new RX7 each year, and have never paid more than $250 for a near-mint, slightly used RX7 (which retail for 600-700). Last year mine was brand new for $250 from some guy who wrecked his **** before getting to use it, and this year I got one off a guy who wore it a handful of times and bought a Shoei that he thought looked cooler.

not tryin to start anything but i think falling from 60 feet up in the air and slamming down...i think mx helmets have been put to the test...I use one when riding lots only and i think it would easily take any fall or smash from lot riding. Ive also see other riders come stright down on downed riders heads wth their bikes from huge doubles and seen guys walk away fine... all im saying is if you get a good mx helmet, their plenty strong...
