I owned an F4 and had the same problem. The carbs overflow into the airbox. At the bottom of the airbox are vacum hoses. When you invert the bike, the gas spills over into the air box, and fills up the vacum hoses down at the bottom. Those hoses play a vital role in the operation of the carb floats / operation. I sold my F4 before I fixed it but I'm sure there is a way to modify the bike so it doesn't happen. See if re-routing the vacum hoses or somehow blocking the flow of gas to the hose works. If all else fails.... buy a 900, 929, or 954.

Good Luck..
