when putting piston rings on a bike [honda xr100] witch way do the openings in the rings face?

sorry nags i know this should be in help and how to but im in the middle of doing it and need an answer fast

i dont think it matters just as long as the gaps arent lined up .

The ring gaps should be 270* from each other I believe.

i don't think it matters, if i was doing them i would just put them on (making sure they are on right tho)

Dot side up, gaps can't line up. Simple as that. Be careful that they don't rotate when you compress them.

i run my gaps 180* off from eachother. like stated, be careful things dont rotate while you're pushing the piston into the sleeve.

if there is a dot side, dot side up, as stated above. they should rotate 120* every ring. be careful not to bend the rings when you're putting em in... it does happen.
