i know they aren't too cheap but no mar makes this sweet tire changer i was reading about it and checked it out on their website. You can floor mount it or they have a hitch adapter so u can hook it to the back of the truck for use at the lot.

http://www.nomartirechanger.com/

take it to the lot and charge people like 10 bucks to change a tire....make some money with it

Re: anyone here bought a tire changer?

i recommend you get the front done on a machine, but as far as the rear there's no need for spoons or anything, just a couple screwdrivers and maybe some plastic rim saver things(if you wanna keep the paint nice). just cut the old tire off with a pair of straight cutters(may take a few minutes to get through the bead belts).
to install the new one set the rim on the ground flat and spray a good amount of soapy water(dawn dish detergent works good) on the rim. you'll be surprised how easy the tire goes on.
to bead the tire, take the guts out of the stem and hit it with air. if you can't get the tire to bead this is what i do- put the guts back in and take some ether and spray it down in the rim and use a barbeque lighter to ignite it...you'll hear a POP and the tire will be beaded. DONE!

yo I saw those when I googled for tire changers. They look nice as hell, probably easy to use too... Kind of expensive though, I'm not looking to spend anymore than about $250-300 max.

and charging 10 bucks a tire to the local squids doesnt sound too bad

I have one of those small portable tire machines. They work fine. Breaking the bead is easy as hell. Only thing you gotta be careful with is scratching the rim. If you dont care about that then you got nothing to worry about. I change my tires myself and for all my homies all the time.

cool, thats what I was hoping to hear. I just remembered one of our friends had one and changing tires wasnt too hard on it. I figured I'd get this to try and avoid scratching my powdercoated wheel

Re: anyone here bought a tire changer?

i change tires all by myself all the time. a set of tire irons, rim protectors and a small block of wood. i can on and off tires in about 5 minutes without so much as a faint scratch on the rim. faster than i can with a tire machine lol....i could never get the hang of those contraptions. i have like 15 dollars invested in my tire changing system and it works amazing.

Coats 220 for life...

If you're doing em at the spot then the sdfkillz method is good. If you want something for home or to do alot of tires with for people, a used Coats 220 is well worth the $$$.

Re: anyone here bought a tire changer?

I have a machine at work, only use it for mounting the front tire, but on the rear i always get used tires which mount so easy, so i can mount that thing on the ground with my knees and one spoon in a sec.

Re: anyone here bought a tire changer?

Just drive over it with your truck to break the bead and use 3 big curved tire irons. To put it back on a little silicone spray helps tons.
