hey man i tried something last night on my 07. totally took out that factory t thing and jumped the plug by putting a staple in there and taped it up so i know it will stay in there.. that way i didn't have to leave the t-valve thing in. tested it lastnight and the FI light stays off. so that staple seems to be tricking the computer that its still plugged in.

oh any +1 on OMR knowing what hes talking about. Hes old and did his research from what i'm read.

all knowing OMR if i did not use the plastic auto zone T and kept it hooked up to the factory T this builds pressure correct? Now will this make it harder for the bike to turn over if i shut it off and start it right away?? cause i think i fucked up

when done correctly the crankcase vent tube bypasses the air box and is ported to the exhaust through a set of reed valves in you valve cover , the reed valves are directional and will only allow suction from the exhaust so this pulls the hot oily air out of the crankcase and will vent it and any oil that makes it up the vent tube directly out the exhaust instead of into your air box ...

are you sure you are hearing pressure when you take off the cap and not suction ?

if you have pressure then you either hooked the hoses up wrong or didn't unplug your clean air valve when you did the mod ..

the clean air valve opens and closes when the bike is running and will create pressure in the motor if you don't disable it ..

well I can understad the positive if It creates suction, I thought it was blowing air out the oil cap, if its sucking then I feel more comfortable, thanks for the response...

thats possible i guess just take the oil filler cap off right after the bike has been running and see if there is pressure in the crankcase

I agree with you completely and I'm happy to see that I wasn't the only one that felt this way. But after seeing OMR response below, it makes sense.

I am very experienced & knowledgeable in building motors, mainly from wrenching on cars, but I was not aware that the 2 hoses coming out the front of the valve cover hook up to reed valves that direct the air to the exhaust. I was also concerned with building unwanted pressure in the crankcase with this mod so I did it a different way. Based off my experience with dropping the bike on the side and hydro locking the motor, the oil was sucked in only from the hose that goes to the top of the air box. So, I just removed that hose from the top of the air box and hooked it up to a small breather filter (like what you would use on an old car valve cover). I left everything else alone and I have not had any problems or hydro locking issues. What do you think?

Great!!! Now Im comfused!...

I did this mod like 10 months ago. I used a aftermarket T from good old ACE hardware. I left the stock T thinging inplace and pluged into the computer, is that ok? or should I have removed it entirley?? All my hoses are hooked up right, I just thought I should leave the stock one there.

that works as well but you are missing the advantage of the vacuum in your crankcase which provides you with a better pull on idle and your way also makes it so oil can pour out all over a hot motor and header [fire risk]

p.s if youre experienced with cars then think of this mod the same way you would think of an evacuation system on a drag car , they run tubes from the headers to the valve cover breather to create a vacuum in the engine , it's free horse power

page 4 or 5 of the Kleen air sticky thread has a picture for the gixxers and also saw in a thread you can also get it from how2stunt.com as well..... my vaccum hose looks like runs from throttle body to the air box(grey hose with a purpleish line.) not sure wtf is up with that tho.
