how much do the pro's really make???
Re: how much do the pro's really make???
im glad to hear none of you go overboard though, like the old guys with their smoked oysters and what not, not crackin.
i think this is one of the rare sports/hobbies where you can meet a guy from a forum, come to his city and crash at his pad without having ever met him.
no homo.
Re: how much do the pro's really make???
this sport rules and I still believe that the mainstream audiences will love you guys. they just have to see you for who you are, on top of seeing what you do.
Re: how much do the pro's really make???
Re: how much do the pro's really make???
not when I'm hating on him, but other people you know. they go too far.
Re: how much do the pro's really make???
bottom line it aint anyones business what I, any full time rider, or just anyone else in general makes. thats kinda personal.
however. just to squash it ill say it like this.
2003-2006 i lived on peoples couches (EDUB TEAM OUTERMOST HOLLA!) ate taco hell everyday, drove a chevy (under repo) and a stuntbike (under repo) some 100,000 miles a year chasing a dream and basically living borderline homless everyday. being sponsored only by my lovely visa/mastercard hommies, and whatever parts i could hustle on ebay
my mom is a 15+ year ER RN making over 70k a year. Ive made much more than her for the last 2 years in a row. well into 6 digits.
however, when you take into consideration exactly how much I spend yearly just to do what it takes to make what i make.. id definately make a lot more being a bartender in this town of las vegas. fuel for instance costs me well over 13k a year for the last 4 years. and fuel is just the tip of the iceberg as to what it costs to do what i do, the way i do it. Ive already spent over 2k between just handbrakes and clips ons this year... and it not even february yet, and thats with the "hommie hookup of the man bill @ fullthrottle and tim and FI"
i live in a small 2 bedroom 1300 sq ft house, 1 car garage, in las vegas that i luckily bought off my moms a few years back for a really decent price so my mortgauge isnt out of control, but im gone over 200 days a year and yet my mortgauge is always due the same day. 180 a month for health insurance. 200 a month for a place to store my bikes, 300 a month on cell phone, i havent even started in on the ~30k a year i spend on show insurance... u think my boys the buddah paints just throw down some 6 paint jobs a year for free!? pppllllzzzzzz im sure they'd love to but they aint rich either. the list keeps going but id rather not think about my bills (easy 2500 dollar trip to stuntwars every year....)
where i feel stunting has made me rich isnt in the pocket book its in the life experience that i will forever cherish, and more so the bussiness skills ive been able to hone that i will use in the future wherever my career choices take me.
anyone can do this full time and do well at it if they want.
IT TAKES WORK, HUSTLE, TIME, and heart....
id bet 95% of the people who whine about wishing their were pro, if they knew what it actually took... wouldnt want to do it.
i do what i do, not cause its easy and the benefits are so great.. i do this cause i love this. since the day i bought i bike ive been hooked and my passion for being a squid will never change.. its what id do even if i wasnt "pro"
speaking of pro.. it rained all night last night and im out to catch the last of the daylight to go play in the mud get my kx P.R.O. on... thats my... Proper Ride On!

and should not have got sucked into the world of kane haters cause from everything kane has said after i actually did a lil kaneone research he is a pretty cool ninja
Re: how much do the pro's really make???
I feel that. I was just INTERESTED in your sport and people were leaving the key under the mat in case I got there before they got off work, Showing up to the airport to pick me up, showing me around their town, clowning me relentlessly, etc.
this sport rules and I still believe that the mainstream audiences will love you guys. they just have to see you for who you are, on top of seeing what you do.

kelm is a perfect example of what im talking about. i havent met him in person, but he is a total doucher on here, but from what i have read from those that have met him, it sounds as if he is a pretty cool kid.

i think this is the answer people were looking for, they dont want to know your exact dollar amount, but a general idea of how much successful riders like yourself make.

are you able to write your fuel costs off? just curious, i would think you can.
if you collect a large cash purse from a comp, is it taxed? ive been meaning to ask that for a while, but i always forget.
Re: how much do the pro's really make???
even the people i argue with on here and i think are complete douchebags (ysrrider, nastynate, etc), i would still hang out with them, provided they arent the d-bag in real life that they are on the net.

this is for kane and every other person who rides for a living:

ive never made a lot of money from a comp
i know i have to pay taxes on all sponsorship dollars, and show fees.
luckily i get a lot of write off, like 30 cents a mile or something im not sure off hand.
i got raped last year on taxes, and probably will again this year.
