r1 set up

i just got a 05 r1 and i want to use it for stoppies...i know the the r1 is good for stoppies, but i was woundering if putting a zx10 frt end would help it...the wave rotors are better right??

should i just leave it the way it is put some lines and good pads or go zx10, or the most expensive way...go all out and buy aftermarket rotors?

ps Im a squid when it comes to stopies maybe 300ft with unlimited approch, so thats why i got the bike, but lookn to see the chepist way maybe someone elese did theres......THANKS

Re: r1 set up

im def no stoppie master but i do know that the "wave" rotors on kawis are really not much better performing than stock rotors. steel braides lines stock pads and some aftermarket rotors if u got the loot.

I would stay far away from those cheep ones dude. Probably really crappy meatal and warp real easily.

Rape this web site for a little bit. Really good group of guys and you can get killer deals on used high end race parts like, I dunno, Galifer wave rotors for an R1...

Re: r1 set up

Leave all that brake rotor **** alone... Put lines on it and a good damper. Preferably a rod-style. Take that heavy *** exhaust off it and get some thing carbon or titanium too to free up some weight.

Re: r1 set up

HAHA... there is no point in lowering that machine for any reason. Ur just raising the balance point by doing that and those bikes need to be pretty damn high to actually roll on the BP anyways. The factory front forks are great as well as the brakes. I always run factory pads in the front calipers. But thats my

what do I know about nose coasters any damn way

Haha, thanks bro... we Try.

And Bill Suggested me lowering the suspension on my old 450 about 2 years ago for stoppies. I tried that **** and It was Gravy. I would At least give it a try. Lowering links are pretty cheap anyways. Not sure on the Price of those.

when he told me to lower it... he said the rear end. Made shitty wheelies but improved the stoppies. Lowering the front end would only give you less travel in the suspension because of the Cutting down of the fork tubes. That **** is for Drag and show only in my book. and dont ask me the reasoning behind the lowering of the back... It just worked. I sont know why.

Re: r1 set up

Im just ****** with u buddy... but in all seriousness, thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. It would actually make it HARDER to pick the tail up if it was lowered because all the weight of the subframe, exhaust, Rider, wheel, swingarm would be closer to the ground. It would initially take more brake to get the tail up, thus DEcreasing rolling distance.

It doesn't make sense to me either. and by lowering the rear on the 450 I just Loosened the Spring up all the way to the lowest point and left all the gasses in it. Maybe it was just easier to preload the front suspension with the rear being more spongy. That is the only real Reasonable explanation I can think of. and I still don't really believe it. But I will say that I tacked on an extra 50 ft the day I tried it. Maybe it was just Practice... **** I don't know. I still suck at them so Im really not that worried about it. Idk... give it a try and see what you think... Let me know if you do it. and it if hurts you...change it back... It only takes about 30 minutes to do it, and about 30 minutes to undo it. Worth a try in my book especially if you have a bike for Just Stoppies... if not then I wouldnt **** with ti.

Re: r1 set up

Those cheap rotors the metal picks up. No good for stunting only good for light road use. I tried some and chucked them away.
