powers rails VS. sick street cage 04 636...
Re: powers rails VS. sick street cage 04 636...
S.I. is
i ordered the street cage (rails) for my R6 street bike. i called before i ordered to make sure it would mount on the front motor mount since my R6 is custom painted and the fairing was already cut for my old slider. i got it and it looked great!!!! there must have been a misunderstanding because it mounted to the second motor mount, instead of the first.
i called Ian and i told him "sorry but i need to return it, it looks great but won't work for my situation."
he said, "no problem return it and we will custom make one for you to fit your needs."
now thats customer service!!!!!!!!!!!
S.I. is a great company with even greater products and they truly care about the customer!!!!!!! production and shipping is always done in a timely matter. they have great customer service and actually pick up their phones.

I'm a little late to this, but agree with everyone here; SI all the way! The customer service and quality products they make should make no question of who you go to. I do recommend running some type of cage sliders though too to prevent roll-up even more. sdfkillz is definitely right about 636 rearsets being garbage too if they take a hit; If you are having problems with breaking them consider some Woodcrafts, HoHey's, or SI ones...
Re: powers rails VS. sick street cage 04 636...
Hi there, I'm a new '08 CBR 600 RR owner .. reading up on Stuntlife because I'm researching up the best protection .. thanks for sharing the knowledge to the newbies.
So if I understand correctly, SI cages are still the best option for the RR's ? Any thoughts of using SI cages vs. 905 race rails? For me I don't plan on taking my bike to the track, but I do plan on learning how to do wheelies and stoppies (but nothing crazier than that - leave that for the pros
).
Although that wheelie crash video clip has just scared me a bit. I prefer to master the low speed wheelies where you just pick up the bike and stand it up straight, as opposed to what the guy was trying to attempt in the video .. which in is own right looks very cool (but too dangerous for me).
Any suggestions for a learner? I've been riding for a while, just never wheelie'd or stoppie'd .. and would like to get my feet wet with adequate protection.

Re: powers rails VS. sick street cage 04 636...
Not an SI sales pitch at all. With roll over, I think we got that to a minimum with all of our cages. We did the best we could with the bikes that have low mounting points earlier mentioned. Sliders always help to prevent roll even more and they also really help to save rearsets. As far as stuntin goes, I honestly would only run a full cage. "race railz" streetcage, whatever you want to call them just arent near as durable due to the lack of triangulation. They will fold upwards on a big impact. much stronger alternative to regular frame sliders, but no comparison to a full stunt cage.
