new bike - new goal

Hello to all stunters!
I recently bought 2004 gixer 1000 in order to build a stunt and fun bike – for dally use.
With your permeation I have some questions:
1. What kind of crash cage are the one for me if leaning deeply into corners is necessary? (good ground clearance)
2. What kind of 12' o'clock bar maintain full tail unit and lights?
3. After installing special oil pickup, how long can a wheelie last without damage for the engine?
Thank u 4 the opportunity to learn a lot

Not a stuntman already, but I'm not exactly a beginner.
Did u mean 'sick' crash cage?
"and lot and…" – what exactly did u mean?

Re: new bike - new goal

Sick innnovations cage.

Parking "lot"

and a gixxer liter bike is not exactly the preferred stunting platform.

That is what MB32 was saying

You need to get gears kit at Sick Innovations , its one stop shop to get everything at once and save your $$$.

I suggest you to get stage 3 kit.

Re: new bike - new goal

First let me thank u all for the quick answers.
I'm not swimming with professional codes just because stunting in Israel hardly exist.
By saying 'not a beginner' I mean I can pull long wheelie and stopie, rolling burnout, wheelie on the seat and a few more.
But I don’t have experience with short ratio gearing; circle wheelie, hand rear brake and other wonderful things u do…
Sick I already know, and stage 3 was exactly my line of thinking.
The bike is going to live on public roads, visit lot (see? I can learn something…) once a weak.
What about oil pickup, necessary?

Re: new bike - new goal

Once a week is not enough practice for you to learn and yes stage 3 kits can go on street also you have nothing to worry about the laws in Israel.

Once a weak ?

I don’t have video under my hand, so u will have to believe my story.
I ride motorcycles for 20 years, every day, all kind of discipline – endure, motocross, street and sport, duel bikes, raced supermoto for 4 years (Israeli champion 2005 – 450).
In the last 8 years I'm testing motorcycles for the only bike magazine we have in Israel.
I'm riding instructor for the last 10 years, open my ltd company last year, we have 7 instructors and we teaches the Israeli police advance riding techniques.
Those days I have 3 bikes: gixser, ktm125, xt500.
There is a guy from Israel in this forum named 'gilad' who can confirm those facts.
But!!!
I'm here to learn more. I really don’t think it's something to brag about, u asked for my story, this is it. Please don’t suspect me for somebody already knows everything because I'm not that guy.
I find stunt riding as the ultimate challenge of riding control. When I said 'once a week' I meant that’s the time I'll have. I don’t think I'll have the time to practice enough in order to become a stunt man, and I didn’t mean to disrespect your hard training (few hours every day, I geese).

Re: new bike - new goal

im not sure if the 1000s have an oil starvation problem or not. i had the problem with my 04 750 and put in a pick up wich fixed it, but my friend has an 04 600 and never put a pick up in it and he has like 30000 stunt miles on it without a problem yet...so idk. im not sure if the oil pick ups from the 600/750 would fit the 1000 or not. if u can get one then get one it certainly wont hurt anything, but theyre kinda hard to find now.

I'm certainly a beginner in stunt riding.
But if u read my last note, u can understand that I'm not going to be a pure stunt man.
I just want my gixser to fit perfectly to my kind of use.
Your advice are best for someone who want to become a stunt man, I just want the perfect bike for myself.

Oil pickup will be modified.
When I checked for sick stage 3 for my bike, I realize they don’t have the kit for the gixser 1000… or cbr1000. I geese the 1000' are not too popular with in the stunt circles…
Any other choices?

Re: new bike - new goal

you asked so I'm gonna give you my 2 cents.
All you need is a descent cage/extra levers/ I wouldnt worry about the bar until you plan on scrapping it. not sure but I thought the 04 gsxr has the electronic pickup but I would just add an extra quart and try to stay off the limiter on the wheelies. Just get out there and practice and have fun.

Re: new bike - new goal

If you're looking for a good street/stunt bike and you're set on riding a 1000cc I would suggest looking into the Honda 929/954. They're smoother than the gsxr and are built a little stronger from my experience. If you're looking for a good mix of power and street performance I really like the 05/06 Honda 600rr and the Kawi 636 with medium gearing. You wont have a huge top end but you'll have all the bottom you need.

Not too many of us ride 1000cc bikes. Its because the power of a 1000cc comes on a little fast/hard for the tricks you're not doing yet . You can ride and learn on anything. But if you want to have a lot more fun and learn quicker I would suggest any 600 class Honda Kawasaki from 03-06. Plus, there are a lot of ready made parts and spares floating around. Have fun, it would be cool to see a stunt scene in Israel!
