Depending where you live you might need DOT approved tires, a speedometer and a stand as well. It might be a PITA to make dirt bikes street legal in some states/provinces. Check with your local DMV or ask this question on a local forum.

With a lot of parts you could go from dirt bike to race bike

You can forget about it in NY from what I have heard. I hear it is pretty easy in OH, just need a battery, headlight, taillight with working brake light, turn signals, horn, mirrors, and DOT approved tires.

I don't think you can make it street legal in new york or what is required if you can. My 450 is street legal in texas and it has a 50w moose stator to power the acerbis headlight, baja designs taillight with integrated license plate light, crg mirror, and a horn that is powered by a 9 volt battery.

Converted mx bikes are so much fun on the street if you can handle the maintenance. I change the oil every 100-150 miles depending how hard I ride and check the valves periodically. The yamaha 4 strokes are really reliable if you maintain them right. I wouldn't trade my yz450f for anything.

Scott that **** is niceeee. I see a lot of converted MX bikes on the road over here in Japan. Do you have a list of what all you've done to your bike. Besides the obvious thing's like wheels, tires, rotors, lights, tag, etc. Did you have to do anything with the exhaust?

Re: how do i turn my yz250f into a street bike?

you should just sell your 250f and get as much as you can for it the go to your local yamah dealer and get the new fuel injected 250f super moto that yamaha makes that comes with sick wheels/tires/brakes and is 100% street legal out the door...and i heard of a few guys stuffing the 250f race motors in there and keeping the fuel injection...and they ******* rip!!!!!!
